The Luscious Ladies On UPN's Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Since debuting in 1997, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" has become one of television's most successful breakout hits, launching a powerful franchise that has left an indelible mark on network television.

Named "one of the ten best shows" on television by Time Magazine, TV Guide, USA Today and Entertainment Weekly, this critically acclaimed series moved to a new home last fall, on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on UPN.

As a long term fanatic fan, I attribute a lot of the success of this action-packed drama, comedy and horror show with the ongoing presences of Fabulous Five Ladies who capture viewers with their beauty, poise, and luscious locks.

Every Tuesday at 8:00 pm (ET/PT) during the regular TV season I sit glued to my chair as my favorite slayer, Buffy, played by the award winning actress, Sarah Michelle Geller, slays vamps, demons, monsters and computer nerds gone wrong. While resting from flipping Hellmouth creatures, Buffy makes time to be the devoted older sister to Dawn, best friend to Willow and confident to Tara.

This lovely group of ladies even bonded long enough to be there for former vengeance demon Anya who was tragically left at the altar. Through all the riveting episodes their tresses garner almost attention as their impressive character evolutions.

Fans have watched Buffy grow from a ditzy former cheerleader to a poised young woman dealing with raising her sister after the sudden tragic death of her mother. As Buffy's character has evolved, so has her hair styles and colors. Recently Buffy cut her long blonde locks into a short chic razored shattered look that appeared symbolic of her character's transformation.

Sarah Michelle Geller - Buffy

Emmy Award winner Sarah Michelle Geller, born April 14th, 1977 in New York City, stars as Buffy, a quick-witted heroine whose duty as the sole vampire slayer of her generation is to protect the world from the undead, yet who pines to be normal. Trying to balance young adulthood with saving the world, Buffy remains cheerful and fierce throughout, even as her hometown of Sunnydale, California, sits atop a Hellmouth, a mystical portal where all the demons of the netherworld converge. To complicate slaying matters, Buffy only recently discovered that her 15-year-old sister, Dawn, is the key to that portal and therefore vulnerable to all things evil. Buffy fights that evil with the support of best friends Willow and Xander; her very own surly English vampire, Spike; and Anya, Xander's 1,120-year-old former-demon girlfriend.

Alyson Hannigan - Willow

A veteran performer who has been acting since the age of four, Alyson Hannigan portrays Willow Rosenberg, Buffy's best friend and confidant, in the hit television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." (Photo of Alyson Hannigan UPN2001 - All Rights Reserved).

An early Aries born on March 24, 1974 in Washington, DC., her character has developed throughout the past few seasons from the high school computer geek of the early episodes to, now, a young college student exploring her sexuality, as well as her witchcraft. Born in Washington D.C., Hannigan moved to Atlanta at age two. She began her career in Atlanta doing commercials, working steadily in national spots for companies like McDonald's, Six Flags Amusement Parks and Oreo Cookies. At age 11, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting roles in television and film. Her breakthrough role came at age 13 when she was cast as Dan Akroyd's misunderstood daughter in the feature film "My Stepmother is an Alien." She went on to guest star on a number of popular television shows, including "Picket Fences," "Roseanne" and "Touched by an Angel." She was a recurring character on the series "Almost Home" and a series regular on "Free Spirit." Hannigan starred in Universal's much-anticipated sequel "American Pie 2," in which she reprised her role as the flute playing band camper, Michelle, alongside co-stars Jason Biggs, Chris Klein and Mena Suvari. Hannigan resides in Los Angeles with her three dogs and two cats.

Amber Benson - Willow's Friend Tara

Amber Benson plays Tara, Willow's girlfriend on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Born January 8, 1977 in Birmingham, Alabama, she moved to Los Angeles at the age of 14. Benson has amassed a number of television and film roles. Her television credits include the television movie "Jack Reed: An Honest Cop," as well as guest starring roles on "Promised Land" and "Cracker." Benson will be seen on the big screen in the upcoming "Taboo" with Nick Stahl. She was recently seen in "The Prime Gig," starring opposite Vince Vaughn, Ed Harris and Julia Ormond. She also appeared in the controversial feature film "Don's Plum," alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. Her additional credits include "Bye Bye Love," "Imaginary Crimes," "S.F.W.," "The Crush" and her debut film, Steven Soderbergh's critically acclaimed "King of the Hill." Benson recently directed and also starred in the feature film "Chance" based on her original screenplay. She also co-wrote a Willow/Tara comic book with Chris Golden for Dark Horse Comics. Aside from acting, she enjoys art, music and is a huge fan of singer Jeff Buckley.

Emma Caulfield - Anya

Emma Caulfield first appeared on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as a guest star during the 1998-99 season, portraying the demon Anyanka, patron saint of scorned women. Then, the character lost her powers and became Anya, an 1,120-year-old mortal teenager, and Caulfield joined the cast as a series regular. (Photo of Emma Caulfield UPN2001 - All Rights Reserved).

Born on April 8th, 1973 and raised in San Diego, Caulfield began studying drama while still in high school at the La Jolla Playhouse and the renowned Old Globe Theater where she won the honor of "Excellence in Theater Arts." She continued her studies at San Francisco State University and UCLA. After college, she continued her drama studies at TASIS (The American School in Switzerland) in London. Caulfield's big break came in 1995 when she joined the cast of "Beverly Hills, 90210" as Brandon's (Jason Priestly) journalist girlfriend, Susan Keats. Following her stint on the primetime serial, she landed the role of Lorraine Miller on the daytime drama "General Hospital." Caulfield currently lives in Los Angeles.

Michelle Trachtenberg - Dawn

Michelle Trachtenberg is anything but an ordinary 15-year-old. Currently, the actress, born October 11th, 1985 in New York City plays the mystery-laden character of Buffy's little sister Dawn Summers on UPN's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." She is perhaps best known for her starring role in "Harriet the Spy," opposite Rosie O'Donnell, for which she won the "Best Lead Actress in a Feature Film" award from "Young Artists of Hollywood."

A native New Yorker, Trachtenberg began her acting career at the age of four when she appeared in her first television commercial. Since then, she has appeared in over 100 national spots and in starring roles both in film and on television.

In 1999, Trachtenberg starred opposite Matthew Broderick in the live-action feature film "Inspector Gadget." Her other feature credits include roles in the independent films "Can't Be Heaven," "The Cage" and "Melissa." Daytime television fans will remember Trachtenberg from her role as the autistic Lily Montgomery on "All My Children," at which time the drama also starred Sarah Michelle Geller. She was also a series regular on the Nickelodeon series "The Adventures of Pete & Pete." Trachtenberg's other television credits include guest starring roles on "Meego," "Guys Like Us," "Figure It Out," "Dave's World," "Law & Order," "Saturday Night Live," "Clarissa Explains It All" and "Space Cases," as well as the television movies "A Father's Choice" opposite Peter Strauss and Mary McDonnell, and "Christmas in Our Home Town" with Melissa Gilbert.

For the past five years, Trachtenberg has been an active spokesperson for R.A.D.D., DARE America, The Starlight Foundation and many others. Her contributions to the fight against drugs earned her the prestigious responsibility of representing the youth of America at CNN's headquarters in Atlanta, where she helped President Clinton launch "The Coalition for a Drug Free America" campaign. In her spare time, Trachtenberg enjoys swimming, rollerblading, ice-skating, bicycling and writing short stories.
