Excessive partying can do damage to your hair. Besides the remote danger of your hair catching on fire if you happen to be at the gathering of a famous rapper or rock star, there are other well-known dangers.

The most common problem is dehydration. Alcohol can be blamed since excessive partying causes blood vessels to swell and leak water, which contributes to puffiness. If you add smoking to the mix you are dealing with restricted oxygen to the hair roots and scalp.

When the scalp doesn't receive adequate oxygen the roots can suffer. There are a range of things which can occur as a result.

Connection To Hair Loss?

One well-known cause of hair loss, for men, women and children appears to be directly linked to the foods and liquids consumed.

Even more importantly hair loss studies done over the years have shown links to accelerated strand shedding for people with diets that include a high concentration of caffeine, alcohol and nicotine.

Skin Damage

Of course alcohol, smoking and drugs also wrecks havoc with the skin causing under eye bags, puffiness and a dull pasty appearance.

Britney Spears is a good example of a celebrity who has suffered noticeable hair and skin damage from heavy partying over the past 10 years.

Although Britney has managed to keep a much low profile since her father took control of her career and finances, all those years of excessive partying have taken their toll.

How To Minimize Damage

If you are committed to excessive partying but want to try and minimize the damage to your hair and skin there are options.

1. Sleep With Two Pillows

One well-known option is to sleep on two pillows after a night of partying with alcohol. Using two pillows creates a positive gravity effect so that the accumulated fluids will drain from your face and scalp as you sleep.

This will also help with increasing oxygen to the scalp and amping up circulation to the roots.

The impact of alcohol can also be neutralized with extra sleep on non-partying days. Sleeping helps the body equalize and it will also help the hair and roots regenerate.

2. Drink Organic Apple Juice

Fresh organic apple juice. Apple juice serves as an excellent means of providing essential nutritional fluids to the body. Even better, research has shown that apples are a rich source of antioxidants which are important for healthy hair and skin.

Cornell University researchers reported in the journal Nature in 2000 that one apple packs more cancer-fighting antioxidant capability than a 1,500-milligram dose of vitamin C.

3. Drink Lots Of Water

Water is essential for preventing dehydration which is a factor in accelerated hair shedding. Studies are finding that filtered waters may even be better. When possible, select water sources that are known to be free of excessive chemicals. Evian and Fiji water have consistently been given the green light as good water sources.

4. Perform Yoga Or Similar Exercises

Yoga is popular because it offers the option to increase circulation to the entire body, including the scalp and skin. After a night of excessive partying yoga can offer the body a way to balance out and help remove alcohol related toxins.

5. Detox Your Liver With Hot Lemon Juice

Fresh hot lemon in hot water - Squeeze 1/2 organic (when possible) lemon in 8 ounces of hot water first thing in the morning when you get up. Let the lemon drink cool enough to drink comfortably. Be sure to drink with a straw to protect delicate teeth enamel. When you drink this hot lemon drink first thing in the morning this will help detox your liver.

6. Take Vitamins

There are special formulations of vitamins, amino acids and herbs which are designed to encourage healthy hair growth and maintenance. If heavy partying is a constant event in your life you may wish to investigate these specialized vitamins which will support your hair, skin and nails.

Summary

Excessive partying may potentially damage your hair and skin. Of course all excessive consumption of alcohol, nicotine and recreational drugs should be done in moderation to prevent accelerated aging, hair loss or skin damage.

However, if you are going to be partying consider some of the options to help minimize potential long term damage.
