Lady Gaga sings:

Whenever I dress cool, My parents put up a fight And if I’m a hotshot, Mom will cut hair at night In the morning I’m sure of my identity I scream Mom and Dad Why can't I be who I wanna be?

I just wanna be myself, And I want you to love me for who I am I just wanna be myself, And I want you to know, I am my Hair

In the first two verses she's telling her fans that she's fought with her parents over her hair and that she defines herself and who she is by her hair.

She also tells her fans that it's okay for them to be true to themselves and wear their hair however they want to wear it.

Her chorus to "Hair' tells fans that she's had enough and her prayer is to die living as free as her hair. Gaga also sings that

she's not a freak and she must keep fighting to stay cool on the streets in order to be free.

In Verse 2 of the hit song she sings:

Sometimes I want to rock on some highlights Just because I want my friend to think that I am dynamite And on party, roxy, high school dance I got my bangs too hard That I don't stand a chance A chance

I just wanna be myself, And I want you to love me for who I am I just wanna be myself, And I want you to know, I am my Hair

Lady Gaga is sharing about her needs to find her unique identity with highlights and hair color because she wants her friends to think "I am dynamite."

She also shares about a bang problem. Anyone who's ever worn a fringe understand instantly the difficulties of getting a fringe to lay just right and not be "too hard."

Lady Gaga takes her hair struggles into the Bridge where she sings:

I just want to be free, I just want to be me And I want lots of friends that invite me to their parties

I don't wanna change, And I don't wanna be ashamed I'm the spirit of my Hair It's all the glory that I bare I am my Hair!

I'm my hair, I am my hair It's all the glory that I bare I'm my hair-am my hair I'm my hair-am my hair yeah!

Lady Gaga Is Only Human

Besides sharing her history of hair challenges she shares many things from the stage about her life.

She famously told fans "I'll sleep when I'm dead." She also said "I know I'm running myself into the ground, and that alcohol will kill me someday, but I would rather not die on vacation."

Of course The Little Monsters loved her honesty, her commitment to them and her willingness to share about her own personal struggles with life.

Daily Hair Tip
Never brush your hair when it is wet. Hair is in its most fragile condition when it is wet. Use a wide tooth comb on wetheads.
