Hair Vitamins: What Are They?

Trust me, hair vitamins are not a simple topic. So what exactly are hair vitamins and how do they fit into the big overall vitamin picture?

Lets first look at vitamins in general. Vitamins are relatively complex organic substances occurring naturally in plant and animal tissue.

Vitamins, whether designed for hair or not, are essential in varying amounts for proper human metabolic processes.

Vitamins Are Essential For Nutrition & Health

Because the human body requires vitamins for proper metabolic process, vitamins are indispensable to general nutrition and good health.

Although vitamins do not directly contribute towards energy or building materials, they do form complex chemical compounds in the body which have enzymatic activity necessary for the conversion of food to energy and building tissue.

It has been proven by scientific studies that a lack of vitamins over a prolonged period can result in serious and distressing health problems.

A hospital-based case-control study of the relationship between colorectal cancer, alcohol consumption and insufficient vitamin intake was carried out between January 1998 and November 1999 at the University Hospital in Krakow, Poland.

The study confirmed that people who had a high rate of consumption of alcohol ran a high risk of the development of colorectal cancer.

The study data suggested that a combination of high consumption of alcohol and low intake of retinol and antioxidant vitamins may considerably increase the risk of colorectal cancer.

The risk was markedly lower, however, among heavy alcohol drinkers who reported a high intake of retinol, thiamine or antioxidant micronutrients (vitamins C, E).

All vitamins can be supplied by a well-balanced diet, but many people do not eat the necessary variety or quantity of foods to get all the vitamins they really need. For people who don't eat well to enjoy proper nutritional healthy, vitamin supplements are essential.

Essential Nutritional Elements

During the past 65 years scientists have isolated essential nutritional elements from naturally grown foods. Research in this field is continuing at a rapid pace. No one can say how many more essential nutrients might be isolated over the next fifty years. Since these nutrients have not been identified, they cannot be biologically or chemically reproduced or manufactured.

Natural vitamins are brought to you with any naturally associated nutritional factors intact. These extra nutritional factors may be missing from synthetically reproduced vitamins. A balanced diet, derived from organically grown foods that have been prepared without chemical interference, is the best source of all available nutrients.

Vitamin supplements taken from naturally grown foods could offer a more complete nutritional balance than any synthetic substances.

A good volumizing trick is to mix equal parts of hair mousse and gel together and then paint sparingly on the roots of your hair before blow drying with a make-up brush.
