Term: Traction Alopecia

Traction Alopecia, also known as TA, is a type of hair loss.

It is primarily triggered by wearing specific types of hairstyles (braids, buns, ponytails, pigtails) or hair extensions or hair systems (toppers, wigs, toupees)  which creates consistent and tight pressure on the scalp and roots.

Caption

Quite simply, it is caused by a pulling force being applied to the scalp, roots, and follicles.

It is a consistent pulling on the hairline forcefully towards the vertex of the scalp.

Daily Hair Tip
Hair at the nape of the neck often misbehaves because it is where finer baby hair grows. Harness baby locks w/ faux-jeweled claw clips or smooth on your favorite hair paste or wax to hold fragile strands in place.
