Definition  
Some hair experts and dermatologists specializing in the treatment of hair loss known as traction alopecia believe that clip-in hair extensions or clip-in hair pieces may increase hair loss or trigger hair loss when the clip-in pieces are applied to the same section of the head every time they are worn.

Notes  
The theory of whether clip-in hair extensions actually trigger or worsen traction alopecia has not been scientifically proven. It is recommended that is traction alopecia is a concern that when wearing clip-in hair, the clips me worn at different places on the scalp every time. It is also suggested that clip-ins only be worn for special hair events and not on a regular basis, if traction alopecia is suspected as developing due to the wearing of clip-in hair products such as extensions or wigs.
