Term: Traction Alopecia

Traction Alopecia, also known as TA, is a type of hair loss.

It is primarily triggered by wearing specific types of hairstyles (braids, buns, ponytails, pigtails) or hair extensions or hair systems (toppers, wigs, toupees)  which creates consistent and tight pressure on the scalp and roots.

Caption

Quite simply, it is caused by a pulling force being applied to the scalp, roots, and follicles.

It is a consistent pulling on the hairline forcefully towards the vertex of the scalp.
