Term: Mousse

Mouse is a hairstyling product. Mousse is usually liquid that, when shaken and dispensed from its can, has the appearance, consistency and feel of whipped cream and/or shaving cream.

Mousse is usually applied to the palm of the hands and then smoothed into the hair.

The proper amount of mousse to utilize for styling depends upon the length, texture, type and desired styling outcome.

Many mousse application instructions recommending applying the amount of mousse equivalent in size to a small or medium sized egg.

Mousse can be applied to either damp or dry hair, depending on the desired results.

Some mousse products are designed to add color to the hair while others have no color effect and are designed to add volume or other styling properties.
