Term: Ingrown Hair

A hair which does not properly emerge from the follicle remaining embedded in the skin. The site of the ingrown hair may become inflamed or develop a bump or series of bumps. Ingrown hairs may occur anywhere on the head or the body and can become worse due to shaving.
