Term: Hair Chelator

This is a highly specialized type of pre-treatment which is used before certain chemical services provided at a salon or at home. Chelators are designed to neutralize metallic elements in or on the hair which could potentially interfere with the chemicals being provided. Chelator can be either a separate conditioner or an ingredient in a pretreatment product. The manufacturer will often provide detailed directions for use.

Chelator products can also be used to remove product build-up on the hair.

Chelators can at times be drying so they should be used only when necessary and carefully.

Daily Hair Tip
With any hair care products it is important to remember that a little goes a long way. Overuse of any products can make hair look lank, oily or greasy.
