Term: Hair - Where It Grows

Hair grows on the human body in the following locations:

1. Hair that grows from the scalp which is known as terminal hair. Intermingled in the terminal scalp hair is some soft fine hair known as vellus hair.

2. Hair that grows from most parts of the skin except for the soles of the feet, palms of the hands and lips. This is also known as vellus hair.

3. Human fetus hair is known as lanugo hair which is shed shortly after birth.
