Term: Cornstarch

Also known as Zea Mays. A light powderly compound that is derived from the corm plant. Cornstarch makes a fabulous dry shampoo base since it easily absorbs both moisture and oils and is all natural. When used in cosmetic formulas and masques cornstarch products a soft, soothing feeling. Also added to various creams, lotions and beauty products to help the product spead on the skin more easily. A key ingredient in Burt's Bees Dusting Powder. Cornstarch offers a natural alternative to commercial baby powders which may or may not contain chemicals that might be harmful when inhaled.
