Term: Barber

The barbering profession is one of the oldest professions in the world. "Barber" is derived from the Latin wor "barba" which means beard. A related Latin word for barber is "tonsorial" which actually means using a razor or other cutting tool to cut, clip or trim hair.

During the Middle Ages, barbers added surgery to their list of approved practices. Although barbers also practiced the art of hair cutting, styling and shaving, they also were officially recognized as part of the medical profession.

Daily Hair Tip
If you set your hair on hot rollers, always wait until the rollers have cooled completely before taking them out of your hair.
