Term: Peek-a-Boo Bang

The Peek-a-Boo Bang was name for the hairstyle made famous by blonde bombshell actress Veronica Lake. Veronica Lake's shimmering blonde hair was style so that one side deliberately hung over one eye.

Not known for her acting ability, the big draw by fans and the media was Lake's blonde hair, beauty and her famous eye covering bangs. She was famous for pouting with only one eye showing.

When Veronica Lake went on morale=boosting tours of the troops during the war, she was required to wear her hair tied back off her face to see a good example of the danger of long hair getting caught in the machines.

Unfortunately for Lake, when she stopped wearing her Peek-a-Boo Bang, her popularity plummeted.
