Introduction
This unique book is focused on African-Caribbean hair and
contains very good information for both hair professionals that
work with relaxed hair or consumers who have relaxed hair and

Unlike some books, this textbook style book offers
lots of good photos, drawings and other helpful ways of
sharing information in a clear and easy to follow
format.
It includes tips on how to create finger waves, apply
chemicals such as relaxers and color and how to care for
relaxed hair.
This book is published by Thomson Learning which is located
in the UK and is known for publishing high quality hair books.
This is the second edition which as updated from the original
book.
It is a known fact that African-Caribbean hair can be
more challenging to work with than other types of hair
and this book does a good job of demonstrating how to
work with this delicate hair type. It definitely
will help anyone who is serious about learning to
develop a better understanding. Students of hair
will have the opportunity to develop skill and
expertise.
Book Description
African-Caribbean Hairdressing, Second Edition is an updated
essential guide covering all aspects of African-Caribbean
hairdressing techniques in this area.
It and is the only book written in the UK for
students and professionals studying and working with
this client group. African-Caribbean hair is more
delicate than other types of hair and the techniques and
procedures require a specialist knowledge and expertise.
This book takes the reader step-by-step through each
skill area with the aid of illustrations and
photographs.
While I was impressed with the photos and step by
step instructions, I would only recommend this book to
someone who had this hair type or wished to learn how to
work with it from a professional viewpoint. This
would definitely be a good book to have for cosmetology
students or parents wanting to learn to work with their
children's hair.
