Mr. Blackwell's Worst:  30 Years Of Fashion Fiascos

Mr. Blackwell's Worst:  30 Years Of Fashion Fiascos

by Mr. Blackwell with Vernon Patterson

This book is a great historical photo diary of celebrity hairstyles of the past 30 years.  If you like Mr. Blackwell you will love his sarcastic, scathing comments about some of the top celebrities of the past 30 years.  If you dislike Mr. Blackwell, this book is a great photo album of hairstyles from the past.

I bought the book for the express purpose of looking at all the unbelievable hairstyles.

Bo Derek caused a major hair revolution with her corn rows.  Mr. Blackwell hated her corn rows and he called her look 1960s kitsch, clutter, ill fitting, and ill advised.  Mr. Blackwell stated that Bo "seemed to strive toward looking as unglamorous as possible and the corn-row catastrophe of her hairstyle was more reminiscent of shock statement than a fashion statement."

Mr. Blackwell also hated beautiful Brooke Shield's long gorgeous hair. He called Brooke "a Halloween trick without a treat."  Bernadette Peters was famous for her beautiful curled hair.  Mr. Blackwell tagged her "as a kinked and curled kewpie doll on a hayride."

Never mind Mr. Blackwell.  This is a great hair book.  The book starts with 1960 and photos of big haired Shelly Winters, Kim Novak and Anne Baxter.  1961 has a great hair photo of Connie Stevens with a 1961 curly do.  This great book covers 30 years of classic hairstyles.  I could not put it down.

This book is out of print and may or may not be had from Amazon.com.  I snagged the book after just a few seconds of flipping through all the great hair photos over the past 30 years.  I could not believe the classic teased and sprayed big curly do on Sandra Dee on page 19.  It looks very 1963ish.  Brigitte Bardot looks great with straight long blonde hair on page 25.  It is hard to believe that the photo was taken in 1965.  Her hair certainly has changed over the years.

If you can get your hands on this book I strongly recommend it.  If you are a hair buff, this book will delight you.
