Tips and Tricks For Instant Hair Volume ![]() No matter how hard you try, sometimes the best laid hair volume plans fall flat when you least expect it. There are all sorts of reasons that your hard won volume collapses but celebrity hair pros know lots of great tricks to instantly add back oomph. Listed below are some instant hair fatteners: 1. Use the end of a rat tail comb and separate sections of hair around the crown into individual 2-4″ sections. Lift each section up towards the sky and spray the roots with a blast of a dry shampoo like Rene Furterer’s Naturia. Allow the dry shampoo powder to completely dry. Brush out, back comb lightly and arrange the new volume. Note: It should be noted that many fashion shoot hairdressers use dry shampoo products to instantly build in sassy volume to flat tresses. 2. Bend over at the waist and use fingers or 100% boar bristle brush to direct hair forward. Spray a light styling or scultping hair spray approximately 6-8 inches from the roots. Allow the sprayed roots to completely dry – 1-2 minutes to be sure. Flip hair back over and use fingers to finger pick hair and smooth into place. Do not use a comb or brush. 3. Use a comb style headband to build in instant volume throughout the crown or even over the headband. If you want volume along the front of the crown position the headband a few inches behind the hairline. Slightly push the headband forward to add instant fullness to the hair in front of the band. To add volume behind the headband, lift hair up towards the ceiling and use a boar’s bristle brush to backcomb the hair creating the desired volume before spraying with a firm holding or volume enhancing hair spray. Once spray is dry, use fingers to smoothe hair softly back into place. 4. Pop on a clip-in hair extension cap to add instant lush volume. Many celebrities use the trick of adding a clip-in hair extension cap or hair extension pieces to instantly amp up hair. Other instant volumizers include good old fashioned backcombing, using strategically placed mini braids to act as a type of volume enhancing natural band and using strategically place hair combs to pump up hair surrounding the combs.
