Name That Celebrity!

I said last month that I would be surprised if the Mystery Celebrities lasted more than a day after the column went up.  They almost lasted six...uh...hours.  Ah well, I knew it was going to be easy, but it's never good when it would be easier to list the names of the entrants who didn't get them.  For those of you that didn't get them, they were...

Mystery Celebrity #1: JENNIFER LOPEZ

Mystery Celebrity #2: TERI HATCHER

The most popular wrong guesses were Halle Berry for #1 and Kristian Alfonso (Hope on "Days of Our Lives") for #2.  If it makes you feel any better, I can see the resemblence for both.  Anyway,  the first person to guess them correctly was...

Lisa Seguin!

The next 9 correct guessers in order were Anthea Pang, Ally Miller, Wendy Beernaert, Donna Edwards, Hal A., RJ,
Michelle Casarez, Andy S.
, and Jennifer Alexander

Oh, and special thanks to Teresa Stonestreet.  She knows why. =)

On to this month's contest.  As usual, I give you either a picture of a celebrity from early in their life or career with some completely different look or I disguise a current picture.  You then have to tell me who the celebrity in question is.  Simple enough?  Of course.

As I've often said, a celebrity is often so strongly identified with a particular style, color, length, etc., that they become unrecognizable when their hair looks different or when you can't see it at all.  So, given that setup,

Who are the celebrities pictured in the two photos below?

Mystery Celebrity #1:

Mystery Celebrity #2:

No hints this time.  Gotta at least simulate a challenge.

As usual, THE FIRST PERSON to send me the correct answer for BOTH gets a hearty virtual handshake and pat on the back...and their name featured in the next column.  The next nine just get their name in the column.  Sure, it's a subtle difference, but those yellow letters don't come cheap.  Good Luck!

Did Ya Know?

Got a bit of a twofer this month in Did Ya Know? on that icon of country music, DOLLY PARTONDolly, who seems to age at the same rate as Dick Clark, is best know for two big things: Her talent as a singer/songwriter and her blonde hair.  I know what you were thinking, but that's outside the scope of this column and most lingerie catalogs.

Anyway, what you may not know, is that you're not seeing a wig every time you see Dolly.  She actually has great hair herself and does periodically go wig-free.  You usually can't tell because her natural hair is cut virtually identically to the style in which the wigs are done, with the only real detectable difference being in volume.  So why does Dolly wear the wigs?  Because, simply put, she enjoy it.  She likes the look, the versatility, and, now, the ease with which they allow her to maintain her trademark towering tresses (there's your alliteration fix for the month).

The second, and more entertaining, tidbit relates to Dolly's TV appearances.  Most talk shows and the like these days rely on cordless radio mikes to reduce or eliminate the need for the big overhead boom mikes.  You'll see these as a small mike clipped on the front of the person's outfit with a wire then running to the battery pack/transmitter, usually clipped clipped to the back of the person's belt, stuffed in a pocket, or otherwise hidden somewhere on their person.  Dolly's unique solution to this problem is to hide it under her wig.

Hey, you'd never notice under all that hair and given some of her dresses, where else could she put it?

Ok, other than there.

As usual,
