Name That Celebrity!

Finally, a contest that posed a bit of a challenge.  It's about darn time.  The number of entries was down quite a bit this month and correct entries were WAY down.  It was kind of nice not to have virtually every entry come in with the right answer for a change.  Also, it's pretty cool to know that lots of folks are jumping straight to this section just to find out who the heck Mystery Celebrity #3 was.  So, without further ado, the pictures last month were of...

Mystery Celebrity #1: SANDRA BULLOCK

Mystery Celebrity #2: KATIE COURIC

Mystery Celebrity #3: KIM DELANEY

If you didn't get Kim Delaney, don't feel bad.  I had no clue who it was when I first ran across it either.  Doesn't help any, does it?  Hey, I tried.  Not like I'm a licensed therapist or anything.  Let it go.  Get on with your life.  Maybe take up a hobby.

Oh, and in case you care, by far the most popular wrong guess for #3 was Cindy Crawford.  I can definitely see the resemblance...except that I'm willing to bet that she had the mole back in high school too. J

Anyway, the first person to guess all three correctly was...

Sara Basler!

Congrats to Sara and also to the next 9 who also guessed correctly who were (in order): Christina Land (moving up from #10 last month), Deborah Summers, Lori F., T-Renea, Kara, Kelly Eakle, Sonya Fydenkevez (holding at #7), Meghan Duddlesten, and Allison.

vvv

On to this month's contest.  As usual, I give you either a picture of a celebrity from early in their life or career with some completely different look or I disguise a current picture.  You then have to tell me who the celebrity in question is.  Simple enough?  Of course.

I'm not sure if these will be as tough as last time, but I stumbled across another good theme and it was too good to pass up.  This month's mystery celebs are joined by big perms and pop music.

So tell me, who are the two singers with the giant 80s hair pictured below?

Mystery Celebrity #1:

Mystery Celebrity #2:

No other hints this time and you have to get BOTH correct to win.  Yeah, I know the second one is only a profile and you can't really see her face, but the...uh...let's say "guy"  with whom she is pictured (and for whom she was a back-up singer) is practically a give away by itself.

As usual, THE FIRST PERSON to send me the correct answer for both gets a hearty virtual handshake and pat on the back...and their name featured in the next column.  The next nine just get their name in the column.  Sure, it's a subtle difference, but those yellow letters don't come cheap.  Good Luck!

Did Ya Know?

Once again this month we go the movies for another story of an actress having to cut her hair for a role.  This one involves DEBRA WINGER of "Terms of Endearment" and "An Officer and a Gentleman" fame and has a bit of a twist to it.

In the 1993 movie "A Dangerous Woman", Debra portrayed a mildly retarded woman who was completely honest (hence the reason she was considered "dangerous").  At one point in the story, Debra's character was to get her hair cut very short. Don't ask me why, I can't remember.  Rent the movie and find out.  Anyway, Debra, whose wavy hair fell below her shoulders at the time, balked at the haircut.  Director Stephen Gyllenhaal insisted that it was an integral part of the story and wouldn't back down.

Debra decided to make him a deal.  If he let her cut his hair, then she'd get her hair cut in the movie.  Gyllenhaal, from what I've heard, was known for his own rather longish hair.  Even so, he took Debra's deal and consented to let her give it a shot.  Word is that she hacked his hair up pretty good.  As in a hat became a required accessory.  Bad call on Stephen's part, right?

Well, not necessarily, since Debra cut his hair before the movie began filming.  Needless to say, when it came time for Debra's haircut, she had no trouble having her application approved for membership in the Pixie Club.  See that picture to the left?  That's what it looked like after it grew out

Remember kids, don't piss off the guy who calls the shots. J

As usual,
