Ok, for some reason this month, I've got
a lot more news than I have pictures (or at least pictures that warrant
a full review). So, if you have pictures to go along with some of
my news tidbits, feel free to send them along and I'll include them in
the next column and give you credit...
The
former Mrs. Rod Stewart, RACHEL
HUNTER has gotten a bit of a trim recently. She's
now wearing her hair in a shoulder-length shag with her curls blown straight.
Not bad on her, but I like it a bit longer v
RACHEL WIESZ,
who has gained big screen fame this summer with her damsel-in-distress
turn in "The Mummy" has whacked off the long
curls she sports in the movie to a very short, over the ears crop.
The brief glimpse I caught of it looked OK, but even though she has the
face to pull off a short style, this isn't necessarily the style for her.
v
Speaking of hacking off long locks, rumor is that former tennis star
GABRIELA
SABATINI has traded her long dark waves for a cropped
'do. Haven't seen any pictures, just heard about it, though I can't
imagine how it would be an improvement. If anyone stumbles across
any, let me know and I'll toss'em in the next column.
DIANE
LANE ("Murder at 1600" and,
most recently, "A Walk On The Moon"), has
recently cut her hair after portraying a woman of the '60s in her latest
movie. Diane has worn her hair long (i.e., below shoulder-length)
for a while now. Her new 'do is a long shag that just reaches her
shoulders. A definite change for Diane, but a flattering one
v
Not even gonna comment on the vaguely Meg Ryan-esque chop job sported by
COURTNEY
LOVE at the MTV Movie Awards. I'm sure it is a
better cut than it appeared, then again, it would almost have to be.
Oh, well, looks like I commented after all. So sue me v
No real news on MICHELLE PFEIFFER,
but just passing along a informational snippet that I read on her that
isn't quite enough to warrant a Did Ya Know?. Seems that if
Michelle could change one thing about herself, she would have curly hair,
because she loves the look but hates the time it takes to achieve it with
her naturally very straight hair. <Insert your own snide comment
about Michelle's plight here>.
As long as we're on the subject of blondes, there
have been two new additions to the ranks. First,
NANA
VISITOR (Col. Kira on "Star Trek:
Deep Space 9") bid adieu to the red hair that she maintained throughout
the series and went blonde almost immediately after the director called
"cut" for the last time. Can't say I blame her, especially if she
was required to keep the color for the series. Anyway, her blonde
bob with short bangs takes some getting used to, but doesn't look too bad
v
Second, SIGOURNEY WEAVER
showed up the premiere of the 20th anniversary of "Alien"
(geez, has it been that long?) with a straightened, shoulder-length style
that was layered around her face with long layers throughout and bangs.
Oh yeah, and as you probably guessed, it was blonde. You're probably
having trouble picturing it and, believe me, had I not seen it so would
I (not to mention been skeptical about it). Sort of picture Mary
Hart's current style, but more blonde and shoulder-length. Despite
what you are thinking, it looked exceptionally flattering on her. Though
I would have never thought I would like it, I actually do. Hopefully,
I can dig up a picture of it by next column. Oh, and for what it's
worth, Sigourney looks better with bangs too.
Continuing
the sci-fi trend and to cash in on "Star Wars"
mania in my own tiny way, I have a quick tidbit on
CARRIE
FISHER. She has grown her hair out after MANY years
of wearing it short. It's now below her shoulders and mostly one
length (which, I guess, is like "kind of pregnant"). Anyway, it doesn't
look too bad from the very poor picture I saw of it (which you are also
seeing), but I'll reserve judgment until a get a better look v
Speaking of growing hair out, that seems to be a trend amongst several
actresses lately, reflecting what was deemed "in" in most of the recent
fashion shows. SELA WARD
has grown her dark hair a good 8 inches below her shoulders. I almost
didn't recognize her when I saw her on TV coverage of an awards arrival
the other night. It was fairly attractive, but may be a bit too long
for her v
SARAH JESSICA PARKER
has let her curls get below mid-back now (which looks good, though she
really needs to pay as much attention to her color as she does to her curls)
and COURTENEY COX
continues to let her hair grow out (now a good 4-6 inches below her shoulders),
apparently to a style to be named later. By the way, her non-style
makes more sense if you read this month's Did Ya Know? v
Oh, and if you are wondering why JENNIFER
LOPEZ isn't on that list, it's because her current super
long locks are the result of extensions. Her hair is definitely longer,
but not THAT long.
