Term: Acetamide MEA

A conditioning agent which is a water-soluble conditioning agent. This chemical agent's primary purpose is to add shine to cosmetic or related products. Often used in lip products such as lipsticks or lip glosses to add high shimmer, it may cause allergic reactions in some wearers. Some experts believe that is might be carcinogenic. It may also be used in blush and/or eye shadow products. In high doses it may cause toxic reactions.

It is also an ingredient that might be found in shampoo, conditioners or hair colors.

It is a protein which is naturally occuring in the skin. Acetamide MEA naturally helps to hold in moist by assisting long fiber proteins of collagen and elastin to glide as they work together. This protein will also bind water in the spaces that occur between skin, which holds the cells together.
