Eating Chicken And Urinary Tract Infection Potential

Eating Chicken And Urinary Tract Infection Potential

Chicken Kaboobs On Grill

Chicken Kaboobs On Grill

Can eating chicken lead to urinary tract infections?  It’s possible.  If you’re prone to developing urinary tract infections (UTI) you may want to incorporate some food-safety measures when eating chicken or other forms of poultry.

Researchers in Canada tested raw chicken samples selected from grocery stores and restaurants.

More than 60% of the samples had drug resistant strains of E.coli bacteria which are known to trigger UTIs.  Especially in those who are most prone to developing urinary or related problems.

Obviously eating raw chicken or any type of poultry is not recommended in any type situation.  Developing a UTI would be the least of your problems if you eat raw poultry.

The Canadian researchers didn’t study raw chicken to determine if eating chicken would cause UTIs.  However, they did determine the importance of the proper handling of raw chicken, poultry or any types of foods high at risk for carrying E.coli bacteria if you are at risk for UTI or have a compromised immune system. Is It Really Your Fault That You’re Fat?
Expert Reveals How Packaged Foods Are The Likely Cause

As Americans, we represent the fattest nation on the planet. And that’s not a contest we should be so quick to win every year.

Mannie Barling knows this better than most, because he’s seen it from both sides – as a cancer patient who became obese and as an attorney for big healthcare.

“We pride ourselves in this country for having the safest food supply in the world, but nothing could be further from the truth,” said Barling, co-author of It’s Not Your Fault – Weight Gain, Obesity and Food Addiction (www.HowToEliminatePain.com). “It is the chemical additives like MSG, dyes, high fructose corn syrup and other ingredients used in the more than 14,000 packaged foods sold in the US that made us the most obese country on Earth.”

Barling served as in-house counsel two of the first HMOs in Los Angeles, including one that treated more than 13,000 patients a month.

Barling actively participated in the management of these clinics and convalescent hospitals including reviewing physician utilization, interviewing doctors and specialists and evaluating malpractice claims. This experience exposed him to some of the more dramatic patient outcomes that arose from obesity. But that’s not his only source of experience.

“In the 1990s, I was diagnosed with malignant colon cancer, Crohn’s disease, IBD, IBS, gout and arthritis, and I was given two years to live,” he added. (more…)

April is National Rosacea Awareness Month

Rosacea may not sound like a familiar term, but its threat is all too real for many: As many as 78% of Americans have no knowledge about Rosacea, even though it affects about 16 million Americans each year.

The National Rosacea Society (NRS) has announced the estimated number of Americans now suffering from rosacea has increased to 16 million, while untold millions more may be in temporary remission.

April is designated as Rosacea Awareness Month by the NRS to alert the public to the warning signs of this red-faced, acne-like and often life-disruptive disorder, and the importance of seeking early diagnosis and treatment.

Rosacea Is A Chronic Condition

“Many people assume that rosacea is simply a sunburn or complexion problem that will eventually go away, and fail to realize they have a chronic condition that may get worse without medical treatment and lifestyle modifications,” said Dr. Jonathan Wilkin, chairman of the NRS medical advisory board. Prescription & OTC Drugs May Cause Hair Loss & Dangerous Reactions During Sun Exposure

Friday, March 11th, 2011

As Spring turns into Summer there are dangers which some people are not aware of.  Experts say that some prescription medications can be dangerous when exposed to sunlight.

As many as 100 different prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs can become dangerous when exposed to the rays of the sun.

Millions of Americans are currently taking medications for acne, diabetes, cancer, infections, depression and many other types of sickness or disease risk reactions including dizziness, rashes, itching and blisters in exposed areas of the skin.

In some rare cases the reactions can cause hair loss, skin peeling and even fingernail loss.

Sun Sensitivity

Even various sunscreens (those containing PABA – para-aminobenzoic acid) which are supposed to protect you from the sun – can actually make you more sensitive to the rays.

Approximately 3 percent of people are sun-sensitive to various drugs, according to Dr. Robert Jordan, a renowned dermatologist.

One of the most severe reactions may be triggered by antibiotics like Tetracycline or in a similar drug family.  It can make fingers swell up if the person goes out in the sun.  Fingernails can become so loose that they fall off, according to the late Dr. Alexander Fisher, a prominent clinical dermatologist.

Know Your Drugs And Act Accordingly

If your drugs are known to cause reactions either arrange with your physician to take an alternative formulation if you’re going to be in the sun.  Also, cover up and avoid the sun as much as possible.  Finally be aware of possible side effects so you can respond appropriately.

When A Reaction Occurs Immediately Check With Your Physician

Experts advise, if you have an usual reaction from the sun after taking any type of mediation – prescription or other – you should immediately check with your doctor for a possible change in treatment.

Listed below are some of the drugs which may potentially trigger a reaction in some people after they’re exposed to sunlight.  Keep in mind that not all of the drugs below will cause a reaction in everyone who takes them.  Also consider that there are other drugs which are not listed which may also cause a variety of sun related reactions. NEW TECHNOLOGY MAKES DENTIST VISITS FASTER, EASIER
2011 COSMETIC DENTISTRY SURVEY PATIENT & INDUSTRY TRENDS

MADISON, Wis. (March 8, 2011) – It used to be that eating apples was just a great way to strengthen your teeth. Now more cosmetic dentists are using the Apple iPad and other technologies to make visits quicker and easier.

Sixty-three percent of cosmetic dentists say they expect their business to experience at least moderate growth in 2011 and technology is the number one game-changer predicted to help the industry grow, according to a new survey from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry® (AACD).

COMPUTING YOUR WAY TO A NEW SMILE

New technologies are cutting down patient office time at least 50 percent, increasing patient safety, and making the whole dental process easier and more comfortable, the survey says. In 2011, dentists say there will be increased use of:

iPADS and iPHONES: cosmetic dentists are citing a wide range of uses from charting, displaying x-rays, and managing dental records to improving diagnoses and educating their patients. Multiple new apps are also emerging including an iPhone calculator that’s helping cosmetic dentists analyze and plan new smiles for patients.

Dentists are also using smartphone apps to connect with patients – set and confirm appointments, learn about the office staff, request medication refills, and more.

DIGITAL X-RAYS: cosmetic dentists get a clearer picture of problems, such as an abscess or decay that has formed, in a much shorter time than with the older version of x-rays. (more…)

Mila Kunis Revealed How She Lost Black Swan Weight on 2011 Oscars Red Carpet

Monday, February 28th, 2011

The arrival of actress Mila Kunis was highly anticipated on last night’s 2011 Academy Awards Red Carpet.  Even before the arrivals started the E Fashion Police named Mila one of five to watch for their fashion style. She didn’t disappoint in a soft lilac hued Elie Saab gown with gorgeous lace accents.

Mila was wearing her hair with a deep side swept bangs which covered one eyebrow.  Her hair was swept into a finger picked side chignon with S waves throughout.  “The Black Swan co-star who made headlines for kissing Natalie Portman in the film stopped by to chat with E’s Ryan Seacrest.

Getting Black Swan Via Skype

Seacrest asked the actress “how did you get the part in Black Swan?”  The actress explained “I met Darren (Aronosky) on Skype on my computer.” Seacrest seemed surprised “on Skype?” Mila explained “to be technical it was iChat. Yes.”

Seacrest asked “and what do you think impressed him in that conversation? On a computer?”

Mila said “I have no idea.” Seacrest questioned “did you ever ask him?” Mila “no I didn’t” laughing  “cause I never wanted him to second-guess his decision. So I never questioned it.” (more…)
