One Direction's Harry Styles recently highlighted actor Patrick Dempsey's Sexiest Male Hair title in an interview.

The sizzling hot pop star referred to Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepard of Grey's Anatomy as "handsome and steamy".

Apparently at a past AMA show Patrick Dempsey presented One Direction with an award which prompted Harry to state "He is outrageously handsome, he is truly." Continuing Harry said  "You look at him and go 'wow'."

Asked if Patrick was 'McSteamy' (Eric Dane was known as Dr. McSteamy), the 20-year-old actually licked his lips before adding: "Yeah, he is steamy as well."

Campaigning For Sexiest Man Alive

In 2006 Patrick, then 40, came in second as People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive behind George Clooney.  

The following year, Matt Damon took the title with Dr. McCreamy again coming in in the runner up position.

Ellen DeGeneres 2nd Sexiest Man Alive Vest

Ellen, a big fan of Patrick Dempsey on ABC's Grey's (March 27, 2005 - present) had the hunk on her show on May 1, 2008 to discuss his back to back People Magazine loss.

The talk show hostess presented Patrick with a special black vest which said "I'm the 2nd Sexiest Man Alive" on the back in white letter.

The funny lady teased Patrick he should "campaign" for the spot.

Patrick responded to Ellen's teasing by saying he's "taking himself out of the running for Sexiest Man".

The actor reported he and Katherine Heigl (formerly on Grey's) previously discussed how the show's writers needed to put him in scenes where he was naked so he might have a better chance of winning Sexiest Man.

Offer To Get Naked On Ellen

After hearing Patrick's thoughts about being naked on Grey's, Ellen offered him the opportunity to appear naked on her show.

She told him to take his clothes off right away.  Of course the funny lady was kidding and Patrick declined the offer, but it was a very amusing exchange.

An actor can never really be too old to make it on People's Sexiest Man Alive list.

A good example is the perpetually hot Richard Gere who made the list in 1999 as Sexiest Man.

In 2012 the actor (63 at the time) appeared at #6 on the list.  People gave Gere the nod for his ability to make women swoon.

Could Patrick Dempsey's Sexiest Male Hair, still mesmerizing both female and male fans on ABC's Grey's win him the top Sexiest Man spot on People's 2015 list?

Even though he just turned 49 on January 13, like a fine wine, the actor and avid race car driver is better than ever.  Even though his hair is showing hints of gray, it only serves to make him more handsome.
