Jonah Hill Nabs Golden Globe Nomination For Moneyball
Jonah Hill's acting career has turned a corner. He's in the big leagues now having garnered a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture nomination for his work in Moneyball. Jonah co-starred with Brad Pitt in the highly acclaimed film.
Brad was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama. Brad will be competing for the Golden Globe with George Clooney in The Descendants, Leonardo DiCaprio for J. Edgar, Michael Fassbender for Shame and Ryan Gosling for The Ides of March.
The 27 year old actor is facing some serious competition for the Globe, but whether he wins or not, being nominated with the group of actors he's in the category with is very impressive. Also, winning a Globe nomination puts him squarely on track to be nominated for an Oscar which would be very impressive.
Jonah also was nominated this week for a Screen Actors Guild award for the same role. For the SAG his category also includes Kenneth Branagh and Christopher Plummer, as well as Armie Hammer in J. Edgar and Nick Nolte in Warrior. After the SAG he said "It is not too often you get the second lead opposite Brad Pitt [also SAG and Globe nominated] in a film," said Hill. "It did feel like a momentous occasion in my life when I got the part, and it was."
He told the media "Any expectation of getting a SAG nomination or an Oscar nomination are sort of absurd expectations to put on yourself," he says. "So the fact that I actually got this nomination was so overwhelmingly moving and thrilling and surreal. I am really just kind of shocked."
"The phone calls and emails I have gotten today are unlike any I have ever experienced. I feel like I got married or had a kid or something. I have never had anything like this happen to me before. My parents were actually crying."Congratulations to Jonah.
