While various types of chunky braids have been hot for years now, check out how these Bachelor Pad women who recently put their own twist on the popular hairstyle trend while competing for love and money on ABC’s Reality TV show.
Vienna Girardi, who retired her long below-the-shoulder golden blonde hair after her time on The Bachelor with Jake, now has a chin length choppy bob. Vienna’s hair is now a light beach blonde base with lighter highlights and some darker low lights.
Vienna appeared at last week’s Kissing Challenge wearing her blonde tresses hair in a chunky French style braid extending off from her hairline and directed off to one side. Her braid formed a chic headband.
Melissa Schreiber’s Chunky Hairline Braid
Melissa Schreiber wore her hair in a twisted French hairline braid extending off a side part and pulled it up and over the top of your head for a halo effect. Her braid was a non-traditional look.
Melissa pulled her chunky braid across the top of her head, adjacent to her hairline. Her braid was designed to be worn in lieu of a headband. It was secured in place with bobby pins. Her sun-kissed highlights added interest to her thick braid.
The platinum blonde combined her chunky hairline braid with long loose barely-there waves which cascaded down around her shoulders.
Vienna and Melissa both rocked all-out boho hairstyles that gave them laid-back allure. Neither wore bangs although it’s easy to adjust the hairstyle and wear bangs smoothed over and swept to the opposite side for balance.
Chunky Braids How To
The trick with chunky braids is to achieve and artfully undone, piecey look without pulling the braids too tight.
Ideally chunky braids should start right at the ear and extend all the way to the ends.
Or you can fasten the ends of the braid with a piece of leather, feathers or any type of fabric. Even better, wrap a few pieces of your own hair around the ends to secure it and pin underneath the braid.
