Recently on NBC's Today Show Meredith Vieira said goodbye after five years.

The show has a Special Farewell To Meredith segment including a special performance where Carole King rocks natural curly hair for Meredith Vieira.

Celebrating With A Little Music

Matt Lauer told the viewers "one of the ways we like to celebrate around here is with a little music.  There's one song that sums up how we all feel about Meredith."

He turned to Meredith and said "in fact you mentioned one time that you played it (the song) 30 times in a row when you graduated from high school.  The song will be played by none other than legendary Carole King."

Meredith choked back tears and said "I know what this song is."

Carole King's Natural Curls Were Perfectly Defined

A lovely silver haired Carole King (born February 9, 1942) with a luscious white streak extending from her hairline appeared to float out onto the stage.

She sat down at a gorgeous baby grand piano.

Her beautiful natural curls cascaded down around her shoulders into perfect ringlets.

Meredith greeted Carole who said "we're really going to miss you.  It's been so amazing having you in our lives on a daily basis.  But thank you for so many great memories.  You do have one of these.  Many of them."

You've Got Friends

Carole started singing and playing "You've Got Friends".

Meredith wiped away tears and rested her head on Matt and Al's shoulders while Carole serenaded her.

When the song was finished Carole hugged Meredith who told her "I really did play that like 30 times and sat on my bed and cried."

Matt said "Carole was so nice to arrange her schedule to be here.  She's got new music coming out, but she wanted to be here for you."

Carole said to Meredith "I'm honored to be here for you."

Carole's Music - A Theme In Meredith's Life

Meredith said "I'm honored to have you.  Thank you.  Your music is a theme in my life.  So it's such a pleasure."  Carole shook her head and smiled.  Matt said "by the way, you're performing in Central Park."  Carole said "I am, with the Robin Hood Foundation."

Carole is famous for rocking her natural curls throughout her amazing career.  King and her former husband Gerry Goffin wrote more than two dozen chart hits for numerous artists during the 1960s, many of which have become standards.

King has made 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry.
