Netflix - No Guts, No Glory Move To Be Even Bigger In The Game

Netflix's Big Gamble With Game-Changing Move! Blurring Boundaries And Pushing HBO and AMC - Moving Into Original Programming With New Kevin Spacey Series

When Netflix arrived on the scene 15 years ago they were the little company with lots of big ideas.  As a result of their push for change, the video-rental industry went under major changes.  Ultimately the small company grew to be a giant and took out the big players who had originally owned video-rental.  The big-box players were knocked out.

Demonstrating a no guts-no glory new move, Netflix has lots of new ideas.  Flexing their muscles and their money, Netflix is taking the next step.  This time they are gunning for HBO and AMC.  According to breaking news by e-pub Deadline.com, Netflix beat out bigs from HBO and AMC to win exclusive airing rights to Kevin Spacey's new TV series which the title of "House of Cards."

Could that title be more karmic for Netflix' latest move for total world domination for the movie-streaming bigwig?  Except that Netflix is taking the plunge with a six-figure investment and a top Hollywood talent series which is expected to be high-profile.

Yes, it's a bold move and while negotiations are said to still be underway, Netflix supposedly won the deal by promising n unheard of commitment of two seasons for a total of 26 episodes.  The deal is believed to be worth more than $100 million since the high-end drama is estimated to be in the $4 million to $6 million range per episode.  Industry insiders also point out that the launching of a big original series requires tens of millions of dollars for promotion to get viewers to become aware of the offering.

Deadline.com says this new play by the former little guys in video-renting could completely change the way people watch TV shows.

Although Netflix is still dominant in their position as video renting providers, they supposedly are feeling the pressure from Amazon.com's entry into their market.  Facebook also announced a deal last week with Warner Bros. to experiment with streaming movies through social media.

And the world keeps changing at warp speeds.
