Oprah’s Oscar Speech For Best Documentary Feature

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Oscar co-hostess Anne Hathaway said “there are very many cool things about this job.  One of them is getting to wear a dress that does this. She shimmied and all her beaded fringe flew around her body.  She said “sorry, personal moment.”

Then the beautiful brunette hostess said “even better is getting to breathe the same air as this next presenter.”  James Franco said “ladies and gentleman Oprah Winfrey.”

Oprah said “after 83 years of Oscars here’s one thing we know for sure.  If we’re feeling lousy, if the news is bad and people are hurting, what do we do?  We go to the movies.  And we escape.”

Oprah continued “but I’m here to present the award to the best movie that did not let us escape.  The Outstanding Documentary Of The Year.  And this was an incredible year for documentaries with so many brilliant filmmakers working in all regions of the globe telling their stories, illuminating the human condition, insights and truths.  Many did this against great odds.  Some are even imprisoned for their efforts but it has never been more important for us to see these stories.  To help us try to make some sense of the world, we live in.”

Oprah said “the nominees for best documentary feature: Exit Through The Gift Shop, Banksy, Gasland, Inside Job, Restrepo and Waste Land.   The winner of the Oscar was Inside Job.

Christian Bale Accepts Oscar But Stumbles On Wife’s Name

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Christian Bale seemed surprised when the gorgeous Reese Witherspoon called his name as the winner of The Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Fighter.

When he made it to the stage he said “bloody hell…wow.  What a room full of talented and inspirational people. And what the hell am I doing here in the midst of you.  It’s such an honor. David O. Russell. What a great spirit. You know, on the set, just, just fantastic.”

He said “thank you so much mate for making the work that all of us actors did actually mean something. You know, I mean, that’s the director’s job of translating it to the audience and making it mean something.  Thank you for that.”

He thanked Pamela and “our editors along with the just incredible work of every actor. Melissa I’m not going to drop the F bomb like she did, I’ve done that plenty, before.  Amy, Jack, Mark…man, you know, the guy who got this whole thing going from the getgo.  Everybody in Lowell.  All the actors from there.  Micky and Dicky.  Where The Quaker?  Is he up there?  Dicky’s up there somewhere.  Dicky stood up.  Hey mate, you’re the best. You’re the best.  I can’t wait.  And listen, he’s had a wonderful story and I can’t wait to see the next chapter of his story, you know?”

He continued “if you want to be a champ, if you want to get trained with him, go meet with him, DickEklund.com. Go do it.  Check him out.  Alright?  OK?  He deserves it.   Our producers…Mark, David, Todd..incredible.   Relativity and Paramount just pushing it out there and letting people know it exists.  So many movies are brilliant but nobody knows about them.”

Mark held up a fist in recognition to Christian for his speech.

He said “so lucky to be here tonight and have people recognize that.  My team lead by Patrick and Boomer and Carlos and Jan and Anna and Julie.  Thank you so much for everything you do.”

Christian said “and of course mostly my wonderful wife – he pointed to her in the audience – he stumbled as he pointed because he seemed to forget her name – then he mumbled that he usually isn’t like this – he said my wonderful wife whose my mast through the storms of life.  I hope I’m likewise to you darling.  And our little girl whose taught me so much more than I’ve ever been able to teach her.  Thank you so much.”

Melissa Leo Wins Oscar And Drops F Bomb In Her Speech

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Legendary actor Kirk Douglas presented Best Supporting Actress. He was dapper in a black suit with a crisp white shirt. His hair looked amazing. It’s still a stunning snowy white.

Although felled by a stroke Kirk did a great job of playing off the audience commenting that Hugh Jackman and the people of Australia think he’s funny for some strange reason. He noted that Colin Firth didn’t think he was funny but of course “he’s British.”  Kirk also managed to flirt with Anne Hathaway commenting on how beautiful she is.

After receiving the envelope he pretended to open it a few times before he finally did, putting the nominees on the edge of their seats. Some of them seemed tortured waiting for the envelope to be opened. He also commented that he will always remember the Oscars because he lost three times.

When he finally opened the envelope and announced Melissa Leo as the winner of Best Supporting Actress, she seemed genuinely shocked. As she ran up to the stage the announcer said it was her first Oscar and her second nomination. She was previously nominated for Frozen River.

When she ran up to the stage she bowed to Kirk Douglas and asked the esteemed actor to pinch her. Kirk said “you’re so much more beautiful than you were in the film and she replied “you’re pretty good looking yourself.” (more…)

Nicole Kidman Celebrates First Oscar Nomination With Keith Urban In Dior With Wavy Ponytail

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulous provided their list of the five stars to watch on the 2011 Academy Awards Red Carpets.  On the list was 43-year-old nominated actress Nicole Kidman.  The Aussie is up for Best Actress for her role in Rabbit Hole!

Nicole didn’t disappoint.  She was absolutely gorgeous in a stunning white strapless Dior gown accented with a rare 19th century diamond Riviere necklace from Fred Leighton.  She showcased her elegant height with Pierre Hardy shoes.

She wore her trademark strawberry blonde naturally curly hair in a sleek ponytail with a hint of soft waves interwoven throughout the length.  Her hair was pulled off her face in order to show off her stunning gown and jewels.  She had just a hint of fringe directed to one side of her face and a pouf at the crown.

The beautiful actress was asked if attending the Oscars was easier because she “already had one Oscar at home.”  Nicole said “um, I don’t know, I think it’s just beautiful to be nominated.  Particularly over the span of a career.”

She continued “You know, to have the chance to come and celebrate like this.  And having been in this industry for awhile now, I know most of the people here.  Which is also really a lovely thing.  But I’ve never been nominated while I’ve been married to Keith.  So this is a first for us.” (more…)

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

A fresh faced and obviously nervous 18 year old Josh Hutcherson, an Oscar Nominee for the film, The Kids Are All Right, was the second interview of the night for Ryan Seacrest on E’s Red Carpet show.

When Ryan asked Josh what the advantages are to having two moms – like in the movie – The Kids Are All Right – Josh said “if you have any smudges on your face they get licked off quickly and you get your dinners twice as fast.”  He played a son to Annette Benning and Julianne Moore who portrayed married lesbians.

Josh said having two moms is “not all positives, but it’s good.”   Ryan asked Josh if being just 18 and being nominated for an Oscar was exciting and a tremendous experience.  Josh agreed that it was.

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

E’s Ryan Seacrest kicked his Live From The Red Carpet show off with a big bang by first interviewing a gorgeous Jennifer Lawrence wearing a stunning skin tight orange Calvin Klein gown which showed off her spectacular figure.

Jennifer wore her luscious long blonde hair cascading down around the low cut gown in soft barely-there waves.  She looked fresh and polished.

Who Are The Top Five Stars To Watch On 2011 Academy Awards Red Carpet?

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Giuliana Ranci, George Kotsiopoulous and Kelly Osbourne are glammed up and ready to share the instant news from the 2011 Oscar’s Red Carpet.

Who are the top five stars the E fashion team will be watching tonight?

1.  Natalie Portman – It’s her second nomination for an Oscars.  All eyes will be on the mother-to-be who has won huge kudos for her many amazing looks on all the 2011 Red Carpets.  Natalie has been wearing a lot of Tiffany jewelry and looking gorgeous.

2.  Reese Witherspoon – She returns to the Oscars as a presenter.  It is her first visit to the Academy Awards since 2009.  Will she bring her brand new finance with her to the Red Carpet?  And will she go glam or more simple?  She hasn’t been to the Oscars in awhile so the E fashion commenters hope she will go with a gorgeous glam dress.

3.  Helena Bonham Carter – It has been reported she did not hire a stylist for the Academy Awards and the fashion police are waiting to see what she will wear.   The nominated British star, wore differently colored shoes at the 2011 Golden Globes.  Kelly Osbourne loves Helena Bonham Carter and George gets her eccentric personality but Guiliana did not agree with Kelly about her unusual fashion looks.

4.  Mila Kunis – She has recently become a Red Carpet favorite wearing some amazing designers such as Alexander McQueen which won her big kudos from the fashion police.  Since this is her very first Academy Awards show the E fashion style gurus are waiting to see what the beautiful brunette from c0-star  Black Swan will wear.

5.  Nicole Kiddman – She has had some incredible looks for the 2011 Red Carpet Season.  She’s back with her A Game.  She is wowing on the Red Carpets.   A big question about Nicole is will she showcase her natural curls or wear them smooth and straight or pulled up?
