Robert Downey Jr. Calls Hollywood Writers Sickly Little Mole People

Alec Baldwin returned to the stage after the clip of "District 9" and said "the Academy Awards.  The biggest night in Hollywood since last night."

Alec continued "he is an Academy Award nominated actor she is the most beautiful, brilliant and talented woman in all of show business.  And I'm not just saying that because she revived my career."  The audience laughed.

Then he said "here are Robert Downy Jr. (nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his work in Chaplin and another nomination for his work in Tropic Thunder) and Tina Fey."

Tina the writer and Robert the actor did their intro skit for Original Screenplay.  Tina started by saying "great movies begin with great writing."  Robert said "what does an actor look for in a script?  Specificity.  Emotional honesty.  Catharsis."

Who knew that Robert Downey Jr. was so freakin funny?  We all knew that Tina was but he was a great straight man to Tina.  The "Iron Man" star was wearing a blue bow tie with his dark Lanvin, sporting a pair of dark sneakers with white edging and wearing his sunglasses.  I loved the blue bow tie, sneakers and shades.  How cool was his attire?

Tina looked at Robert and said "and what does a writer look for in an actor?  Memorizing.  Not paraphrasing.  Fear of ad-libbing."

Robert said "actors want scripts with social relevance.  Warm weather locations.  Phone call scenes that can be shot separately from that insane actress that I hate.  And long dense columns of uninterrupted monologue, turning the page and for instance seeing the phrase 'Tony Stark continued'"

Tina laughed "and we writers dream of a future where actors are mostly computer generated and their performances can be adjusted by us on a laptop alone."

Robert said "its a collaboration."  Tina shook her head no.

Robert continued "a collaboration between handsome gifted people and sickly little mole people."

Tina said "it's really not.  You should just say whatever we type."  Robert "you know what, I should say that."  Tina said "say that."

Robert looked at the teleprompter "here are the nominees for Original Screenplay".  With that Tina does a voice over on all the nominated films.

Daily Hair Tip
To combat cowlicks apply pomade or setting gel to the spot & blow dry w/ nozzle aimed downwards. Longer hair helps weigh down cowlicks as will tiny barrettes or clips. Pulling hair into a ponytail or braids will tighten down the cowlick. Experiment until you get results.
