Miss Americas Visit Wounded US Military

Susan Perkins Botsford, Miss America 1978, Sharlene Wells Hawkes, Miss America 1985 and Susan Powell, Miss America 1981, just returned from Baghdad, Iraq last week where they had the opportunity to meet thousands of U.S. and coalition troupes.

Our Miss Americas visited wounded forces at Landstuhl Hospital on Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. As part of Operation Iraqi Children, they were able to distribute school supplies to children in Iraq, which filled the luggage compartment of the American Airlines chartered jet they traveled on.

Our Miss Americas read letters to our American troupes written by U.S. children and were also able to perform in shows on our U.S. bases in Baghdad and Ramstein Air Force Base before leaving. Tony Orlando was also there performing for our troops!

The Miss America Organization is proud to have had our Miss Americas travel to Iraq on such an important mission and so proudly represent America.
