Award-Winning Actress Jasmine Guy stages her Directorial Debut in Atlanta

Masterfully choreographed, the timeless groundbreaking play ‘For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf' resonates ‘still-relevant' women's issues center stage.

Broadway actress, dancer singer, choreographer, author, Jasmine Guy, becomes a first-time director for the Tony-Award winning production of For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf at midtown's The 14th Street Playhouse - 173 14th Street Atlanta GA 30309, Friday August 22 - Sunday, September 7.

Along with rainbow clad cast members, Crystal Fox, Terry Burrell, Chinai Hardy, Nevaina Rhodes, Yakini Horn, and Danielle Deadwyler, the play constitutes of twenty choreographed poetic vignettes that recount subject matter surrounding rape, abuse, abortion, rejection, stereotypes, relationships, triumphs and inner strength of African-American women in the United States.

Written in 1971 following her own suicide attempt, poet/playwright, Ntozake Shange's 30-year-old production continues to express relevancy for all diasporas of today's woman and Guy is excited to transition her career as the director of this poignant well-crafted play in her hometown Atlanta, GA.

With a plethora of distinguished guests in attendance including actress Victoria Rowell of "The Young and The Restless" and organizations that have partnered with the production including Susan L. Taylor's National Cares Mentoring Movement, Girls Inc., It's Cool to Be Smart, The Deshawn Snow Foundation, National Association to Broaden and Enhance Images, Inc. (NABEI), and Southern Christian Leadership Foundation, the second run of FOR COLORED GIRLS by IKAM Productions is one you will not want to miss.

The production will hit the road shortly thereafter including a stop in Macon, GA Macon - October 9 - 12, 2008.
