Celeb Hairstylist Janine Jarman's Hair Fantasy

Janine Jarman, Sebastian spokesperson, owner of Hairroin salon in West Hollywood and Shear Genius 3 finalist, created a spectacular hair fantasy.  She used Alice in Wonderland as her inspiration.

To create the color on her model utilized her 'Color Melt' technique which Jarman described as "a melting technique used to transition hair from dark to light." Jarman uses this technique on 30 percent of her clients and usually stays within three levels on most clients.

When creating this Hair Fantasy she wanted a more dramatic look so she pushed the limit on the model.  Janine said "this technique easily imitates a 'surfer blonde look' and is achieved without foils."

How To

1.  Janine started by sectioning the model's hair in standard color sections.  For this model Janine planned to apply hair in three different sections.  The sections were:  1. root to mid-length, 2. mid-length and  3.  mid-length to ends.

Janine's goal was to take the model's hair (see before photo to the side) to a vibrant copper red.  She started by applying color closest to the roots. The color formula consisted of  developer and Koleston color.

2.  With the color formula applied to the root area she back combed the hair from the color into the rest of the section.

3.  Janine applied color to the mid shaft of the hair to create a vibrant copper.

4.  She then applied Blondor Cream Bleach from the mid shaft to the ends of the hair with the color overlapping a little with the mid shaft.

5. The color was processed on the model for 20–30 minutes.

6. Janine toned the hair with Color Touch Relights (deposit only demi color).   She toned at the shampoo bowl for five minutes.

7.  She blew out the hair using 1/2 inch vertical sections.

8.  Janine then polished with an iron on hair separated into 1-inch horizontal sections.  Using a medium barrel curling iron, she took the 1-inch horizontal sections of  hair and wrapped.

10. After removing the individual sections from the  iron she rolled the newly formed curls into invisible rollers by creating with fingers and pinning to the head.  She allowed hair to completely cool.

11. She undid all the invisible rollers.   She had the model bend over at the waist as she finger raked through the curls.

12. Janine pulled out 1-inch sections and back combed the roots.

13. She shaped the into her desired look.
