Second Guessing Your Hairstylist?

Your brain is telling you that your hairstylist totally gets your hair vision.  But that little voice inside your gut is telling you that you will hate the new hair color, haircut or hair style.

Should you zip your wallet and run for the door or stay?  Studies have shown you can trust your gut with big choices like adopting a drastic hair color, getting all your hair chopped off or completely altering your texture.

While your rational mind definitely has its strengths, when in doubt step back and listen to your gut.

Why should you second guess your hairstylist?

1.  They don't have to live with the new hair cut, color, texture or style.  You do and you have to grow it out.  It could take weeks if not months or years to recover from a cut, color or style you don't like.

2.  They get bored creating the same old hairstyles, hair colors and cuts.  Some like to push the envelope and love it when a client gives them license to do a major makeover.

If you really don't care about completely reinventing your look than sit back and let the hair fly.  Otherwise hold up the stop sign and hit the brakes.3.  You're the only one who can "listen" to your inner voice and know what hairstyles, cuts and colors you really want to try.

4.  Sometimes you and your hairstylist will have completely different visions of what your best cut, color and style should be.

While its important to listen to your gut its also important to avoid over analyzing the situation.  If you feel the need for a change but don't want to do something drastic, take baby steps and only agree to small well-planned changes.  When in doubt, take a trusted friend or loved one with you when you meet with your hairstylist to discuss your options and makeover.

Ultimately it's important to honor your true feelings.  Remember, most hairstylists have honorable goals to please their clients.   They also work for you and need to focus on meeting your ultimate hair needs, when possible.
