Will Gunmetal Hues Play A Leading Role In 2010 Holiday Fashions?

Gunmetal Leading Hue For Holiday 2010 Season?

Expert fashion watchers predict that sleek, shiny gunmetal finishes will play a leading role in all fashion categories for the upcoming Holiday 2010 season.   The sultry color adds instant drama when worn as well-appointed accessories such as shoes, bags and jewels.  It also looks amazing when incorporated into a different hair accessories such as headbands, metal clips and satin wrapped bobbies.

Gunmetal has already been popping up on the fashion scene in a variety of venues. Scarlett Johansson, or maybe her stylist, already knows  that different gun metal hues look stunning on the star.  More than once Scarlett has been photographed wearing the gun metal hue in a range from light to dark.  The actual metal is an alloy of copper, tin, and zinc.

Scarlett wore a very light shade of gun metal at the April 2010 Iron Man 2 (Scarlett plays Black Widow Natalia Romanova) photo call in Los Angeles.  In keeping with the multi metal theme, she combined bronze close-toes pumps with her lighter gun metal gray gown.  The combination was a perfect balance of red carpet glam and California girl-next-door.

The mid 20s star wore her tresses in loose cascading blonde waves with a definite beachy feel.

What Is Real Gunmetal?

What is gunmetal?  Gunmetal, also known as red brass in the United States, is a type of bronze – an alloy of copper, tin, and zinc.

Originally used chiefly for making guns, gunmetal was eventually superseded by steel. Gunmetal casts and machines well and is resistant to corrosion from steam and salt water.  The metal is currently used to make steam and hydraulic castings, valves, and gears, and also statues and various small objects, e.g. buttons.

Gun Metal In Nail Polish, Accessories, Evening Gowns

Look for the elegant and sophisticated color to show up in everything from nail polish and eye shadows to handbags, shoes, hair accessories and frocks of all types.  It will even show up on the Red Carpet in long evening gowns worn by celebrities at the various awards shows which begin right after the Holidays.

It may even show up in some hair colors or as accent colors.  Probably in a more subtle range, but definitely for some base hair colors.

Daily Hair Tip
To combat cowlicks apply pomade or setting gel to the spot & blow dry w/ nozzle aimed downwards. Longer hair helps weigh down cowlicks as will tiny barrettes or clips. Pulling hair into a ponytail or braids will tighten down the cowlick. Experiment until you get results.
