Hair Maestro Ken Paves Rallies For Kids With Cancer

On Saturday, May 3rd, 2009 at approximately 9:30 am I received a phone call from my long time friend, Hair Maestro Ken Paves, who asked me if I could come see him off in his gorgeous black Ferrari in the Rally For Kids With Cancer Race.

The actual race was scheduled to start at noon from the back parking lot of the famous Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles.  Ken, his wonderful mother Helen and Ken's navigator. Driver Dan, were all hanging out at the pre-Rally brunch upstairs on the second floor of the hotel.

Driving as fast as I could, I made it to the Roosevelt Hotel in time to see the various celebrities who had graciously committed their time to drive in the Rally to raise money for Kids With Cancer.

When I arrived Ken took me to meet the Honorary Chairperson of the event - Eva Longoria Parker.  Not only is Eva beyond gorgeous in person, she is charming and so gracious.  She greeted me warmly and shook my hand.  Dressed in pristine white short shorts and an adorable cap, Eva was making her way from table to table to thank all the various Celebrity teams and various guests.

Of course you want to know about Eva's hair.  Ken told me she did it herself but it still looked really great.  Eva had her hair worn down and loose with a hint of waves with her tresses cascading around her beautiful face and down around her matching white long sleeved T-shirt.

After the Kick Off Brunch was concluded, all of the various Celebrity Teams made their way downstairs to the back of the Roosevelt Hotel Parking lot where select media was invited to stop by and photograph the various cars and their celebrity Rally teams.

I have to confess I was completely blown away by the incredible show of support for Eva and this very worthy charity.  The parking lot was jammed with cars and celebrity teams driving in The Rally to raise money for this worthy cause.

Ken Paves was driving his car and his crew consisted of his mother Helen and his navigator, Driver Dan, who has a lot of experience as a driver-for-hire in Los Angeles.  It was a fabulous team.

Some of the other teams, besides Team Paves, included those consisting of Shawn Sanford, Eva Longoria Parker, Eric Winter, Eric Braxton, Rachel Smith and Conchita Leeflang, Winsor Harmon, Jacqueline McInnis Wood (former Miss USA), Rachel Wood, Miss USA, Laura Easterlin, Rhonda Adams and Chuck's Zack Levi who sat in the front of his team's car holding a Starbucks.

There were also teams consisting of Anastasia Soare and Adam Rodriguez of CSI Miami (Eric), Michael Maas and Marla Maples, Hannah An and Tony Parker, Rob Fenton and Maria Conchita Alonso, Jeff Voth and Jacob Vargas, Nima Taghavi and Mario, Tom Henri and Brenda Strong, Laurent Zilber and Nadine Velazquez, Dan Darvish, Sam Zaman, Bai Ling, Jean Doussett and Adrian Bellani.

Also in the Rally were Robin Antin, Gene Simmons, Shannon Tweed, Stephen Baldwin, Katerina Graham, Christina DeRosa and Roselyn Sanchez.  Jerome Williams was also in attendance with Terry Crews.

Eva Longoria Parker dropped the starting checkered flag around noon and all of the various cars zoomed off to the first of several checkpoints.  The race lasted over three hours with the teams returning to the Roosevelt Hotel and checking in at the famous Tropicana Bar.

Ken Paves and his team were the very first to arrive back at the Tropicana Bar to check-in and be interviewed by WonderWall, a co-sponsor of the charity event.
