Mel Gibson's Wife Files For Divorce After 28 Years

The media has just broken the news that Mel Gibson's marriage is coming to an end due to the fact his long suffering wife, Robyn, has filed for divorce.  Although Mel and Robyn appeared to have a happy marriage in the early years of their relationship, trouble has been brewing for some times due to Mel's publicized problems with alcohol and other issues.

TMZ.com obtained legal documents which were filed in Los Angeles on Monday, April 13th.  Robyn has cited "irreconcilable differences" for the split.

In the legal papers uncovered by TMZ.com, Robyn who wed Mel in 1980, is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the couple's youngest son, Tom - their only minor child. She is also asking for spousal support and attorneys fees.

The couple reportedly has no pre-nuptial agreement which is causing almost as much buzz
