A flat iron can straighten hair and it can create curls and even waves.  If you have a heated iron and apply it to hair it can change the texture.

Listed below are some steps on how to create curls with a hot flat iron:

Step 1:

Shampoo hair utilizing the product best designed for your hair type, texture and condition.  Apply a rinse out conditioner appropriate for your hair.  Apply a cool/cold final rinse to close cuticle.

Step 2:

Apply leave-in conditioning cocktail including a heat protectant.  Blow dry hair until 100% dry.

Step 3:

Apply a heat protective product to 100% dry hair.   Use a flat iron with a rounded edge to create a smooth dent free curls or waves.

Step 4:

Separate hair into 2" sections.  Work on one section at a time.  Wrap one section of hair around the bottom plate of the flat iron placing hair approximately 2 1/2 inches from the scalp.

The goal should be to position the iron close to the ends of the hair.    Once the iron is positioned slide the iron slowly down towards the ends of the hair twisting your wrist outward.

Step 5:

Once you have curled the first section, remove the iron from the hair.  Roll the newly created curl with your fingers and pin to your scalp to allow the curl to cool.

Step 6:

Spritz the curl with a firm holding hairspray.

Step 7:

Once the hair is cool and the hairspray is dry unpin the curl from the scalp.

Step 8:

Use fingers to break up the curls and arrange them as desired.
