What Happened To Conair Thermacell Cordless Irons?

Question

I have two of the Conair Thermacell cordless curling irons (Model # CA0262A).

They both have begun to fail to work properly. I can't seem to find this product any more, or a way to get them repaired.

Has Conair stopped making this product? If not, please tell me where I might purchase.

The thermacell was a great idea, no cord, easy to pack, just the right size curl.

No other product works as well for me. I have baby fine hair and all the traditional products on the market today won't stay in my hair or burn my scalp.

Thanks for your help.

Dear Paula,

Generally speaking Conair has a long history of redesigning their line of hot tools on a regular basis.  This is because the hot tool industry changes quickly and Conair prides themselves on being on the leading edge of new hair styling tool development.

For a short period of time Conair temporarily discontinued the thermacell cordless irons because of a variety of new technologies that were in the works.

Although the model you reference is no longer available, they have replaced it with a newer, better model that incorporates the latest technologies.

I personally don't see Conair ever completely eliminating some form of cordless curling iron because users love the convenience for styling their hair when electricity may not be readily available like on a camping trip.

The Conair thermacell cordless irons are wonderful not only for camping but they're easy to use at the health club after a workout or for a quick touch up just about anywhere.

Unfortunately the Conair ThermaCell Cordless Curling Iron has limited features because it's designed mainly for convenience. As a result it doesn't offer variable heat settings.

Also, because it's powered by butane rather than electricity, the curling iron doesn't get as hot as a traditional iron.

Keep in mind also that you can't travel on planes with butane cartridges and the refills at times may be challenging to locate.  If you see the refills, be sure to stock up on them.

Best wishes,
