Missy Peregrym's Hair History

Introduction

Missy Peregrym The WB Network's 2003 Winter Party 01-11-03

If you're a fan of Melissa "Missy" Peregrym and love her hair, you may not care about anything else regarding her acting career.

Or you may only know Missy from her roles on Rookie Blues, Heroes or as Andi on Reaper. If you checked Missy out on Reaper you would've been surprised to note how casual she wore her hair.

It's no surprise the actress looked so laid back on Reaper. Afterall, she worked as a clerk at The Work Bench, a large hardware store during the day and helped her boyfriend fight the devil in her off hours.

In her current role as Andy McNally on ABC's Rookie Blues which returns for a second season in a few months, the actress works as a rookie policewoman and has to keep her hair simple or worn back to avoid detracting from her uniform.

However, when Missy is dolled up, she is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. She wears her hair very differently when she is on the Red Carpet or at a model shoot then when she is playing the rookie cop on a devil fighting store clerk.

At one point Missy generated a lot of buzz in her private life because of her reported relationship with football star Ben Roethlisberger known as "Big Ben" by his fans. Although the Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback was spotted with Missy in the past, it was also reported that they eventually parted ways.

Note: As of April 2011 Roethlisberger is reportedly engaged to Ashley Harlan

During the time the actress was connected with the sports star the media coverage propelled Missy into a whole new audience of football fans. When they were together Roethlisberger was much better known than Missy, who only recently has been building a strong fan base with her roles on Rookie Blues, Heroes and Reaper.

The CW's Reaper Series

During the Reaper Series Missy happily spent time in Canada where CW's Reaper was filmed Originally from Canada, Missy has been forthcoming in press interviews about how much she missed her homeland when she moved to Los Angeles for three years to pursue her acting career.

Although there is very little written about Missy and her hair on the web, there is a lot about the starlet on UTube. Her role in "Stick It" generated tremendous buzz.

On Reaper Missy's character of Andi had a star crossed relationship with Sam whose soul had been sold to the devil.

The couple started out as good friends who struggled to take it to a romantic level. As a result of all the complications between friendship, work and fighting the devil, the couple had a hard time keeping a romance flowing.

The show showcased the special chemistry between Andi and Sam but also built a solid fan base because of the supernatural nature of the show and all that time being at the command of the devil.

ABC's Rookie Blues

After Reaper ended it wasn't long before Missy was back on the air as a rookie policewoman named Andy McNally. From Andi to Andy. Quite a coincidence. Even more ironically the rookie cop has a hot boyfriend, but has a secret thing for her training partner.

Once again her role mixes love with work and throws in the element of star crossed lovers. It definitely adds to the entire Rookie Blue series which has been compared to Grey's Anatomy which is set in a hospital rather than on the police force.

Missy's Skyrocketing Career

The actress who has shimmering brunette hair, with subtle highlights and lowlights, began her career in excellent company.

Missy originally became known to television audiences having landed her first television role on the action-drama series Dark Angel which starred Jessica Alba.

In addition to her role as a very evil shape shifter on "Heroes," the lovely Ms. Peregrym starred in the martial arts series "Black Sash" and the TV drama "Life as We Know It" as Jackie Bradford, the sarcastic beauty with a troubled family life.

Additional guest appearances have included "The Chris Isaak Show," "Smallville" as Molly Griggs, "Jake 2.0", Tru Calling and "Andromeda."

Missy made her feature film debut in the summer of 2006 with "Stick It."

She starred as Haley Graham a rebellious girl who is ordered to participate in a regimented sports world to clean up her act.

The young actress also appeared in TV's Wide Awake in 2007 as Cassie Lang. She had an un-credited role in 2004's Catwoman and as Tina in Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss.

Missy began her career in modeling when she was 18. Her print advertisements soon led to commercials for Mercedes Benz, Sprint Canada and the Olympics.

Missy lived most of her life in Canada before heading to California full time to pursue acting opportunities.

Missy's Hair Styles

Even though Missy played an evil shape shifting character on Heroes her off screen image is more Girl Next Door than evil butt kicker. Indeed, the character of Andi on Reaper was very sweet, a little shy and definitely more conservative.

Andy McNally on Rookie Blue also has a very big heart hidden underneath all that police gear which ironically get her in trouble. Officer McNally tends to wear her heart on her sleeve.

For Reaper Andi was seen in casual fashions with her hair coiffed into a series of everyday hairstyles centered around soft, shiny straight strands.

Her hair is not all that different for Rookie Blues although she does tend to wear her hair pulled back often than not.

In her off-screen life Missy favors no-muss, no-fuss long straight looks with her hair usually worn brushed off her combination face shape.

Although Missy appears to have a mostly oval shape, she does have a prominent chin and a square shaped jaw area. Wearing her hair below the chin or longer is an excellent choice for her face shape.

Steal Missy's Sleek Straight Style

To style your tresses sleek and straight with a tiny hint of bend on the ends like Missy's, complete the following steps listed below:

Step 1: Shampoo and condition your hair with your normal products designed for your current hair type, texture and condition.

If your hair is highlighted like Missy's use either a moisture enhanced or color enriched formula. If your hair is dry from chemical processing, consider diluting the shampoo formula to protect your strands.

(Shampoo products to try: Phyto - Phytojoba Hydrating Shampoo, PHYTO - Dry Hair System, Phyto - PhytoBrush Shampoo) If you have baby fine or thin hair and wish to build in the same lush movement and volume that Missy has, use a volume enhancing shampoo.

Skip any rinse-out conditioning products that might make hair too soft and flat.

If you must use a rinse-out conditioner, make sure that you limit how much you use and that you concentrate on the middle to the ends. Rinse well with a cool water spray which helps build natural volume and increases shine.

Step 2: Towel blot strands. Detangle strands from the ends to the roots.

Step 3: Apply your favorite straightening and/or defrizzing balm. Distribute from the top of the ears to the ends. Distribute well. If you prefer, mix with a good leave-in conditioner for super shine and softness.

Note: If your hair is fine or thin, apply a volumizing gel or similar products to the roots to get lots of body and movement.

To protect against heat and add body, distribute a leave-in conditioner, mousse or gel from the top of the ears to the ends. Distribute well.

If your hair tends to frizz or is naturally wavy or curly, you may wish to combine a volume product for the roots with a smoothing serum for the rest of the hair.

Summary

Missy Peregrym 2010

Although Reaper was sadly cancelled, Missy Peregrym came out on top landing the role of Andy McNally on ABC's Rookie Blue which was successfully renewed for a second season.

Not only is Missy beautiful and fresh faced, she seems to have a knack for landing in roles that work well for her.

Outside of acting, Missy is a dedicated athlete, playing soccer and snowboarding as well as coaching high school basketball. She currently resides in Los Angeles.

The beautiful star has reportedly told the press that is she wasn't acting she would probably be doing something in the sports arena, maybe coaching or teaching sports.

The way her acting career is going, that's probably not going to happen anytime soon. At least not while she's tied to Rookie Blues where she has a much more prominent role than she did in previous series.

Many believe that Rookie Blues is going to last for a very long time since it is modeled after the same formula as the wildly successful Grey's Anatomy.
