The only U.S. nominees in the Student Category of the North American Hairstyling Awards 2004, they felt honored and, of course, excited by their nominations.

This is the first entry and first nomination for Nguyen "Noogie" Thai of Paul Mitchell The School in Costa Mesa, California. "It is quite an honor," he said. "I got chills when I got the phone call; it is just so exciting for me."

"Paul Mitchell The School has been so supportive and encouraging. My education here gave me the edge that I needed for NAHA" said Thai.

"We weren't surprised at all by the nomination because Noogie is so gifted," stated Cynthia Butler, Learning Leader at Paul Mitchell The School Costa Mesa.

"Everything he does is meticulous and creative and we look forward to seeing him take the trophy." This is also Emiley Golie's first foray into NAHA.

"This is so exciting that I can't really put it into words," said Emiley, a recent graduate of Paul Mitchell The School in Provo, Utah.

"I've had many great mentors who have helped me achieve my goals at The School and now in my career. Paul Mitchell The School has been the best experience in my life so far and started me off on the right foot in my career."

"Emiley always said yes to every opportunity that came her way," she stated. "She took part in almost every photo shoot that we did at The School and it paid off. I hope she wins".

Winn Claybaugh, Dean of Paul Mitchell The Schools, is full of pride- both for his students and for the program at Paul Mitchell The School.

"Teaching the students marketing, imagery and photography is just as much a part of our curriculum as it cutting hair, coloring hair and selling products. We are thrilled that NAHA has recognized that the Paul Mitchell curriculum is working."

Noogie and Emiley join two of their mentors and sources of inspiration, Paul Mitchell Premier Associate Lucie Doughty (NAHA Haircolorist of the Year 2003) and Paul Mitchell Master Associate Pamela Perettie, as NAHA finalists.

Daily Hair Tip
Aspirin can give your hair a pain. Since it's eliminated by your body through youre hair follicles & regular aspirin use can build up in tresses leaving them dull & crunchy. Use clarifying shampoo and/or reconstructor 2x per month to eliminate aspirin deposits & strengthen hair & add shine.
