Many people feel the need for a little help creating the perfect hair and makeup. With good cause.

A professional hairdresser or colorist will have absolutely no sentimental or emotional reasons to encourage an attachment to an outdated hair style, faded brassy color or raggedy ends.

Master makeover experts provide objective opinions through a pair of fresh eyes. An analysis of your face shape, skin and eye tones along with your hair texture, condition and type instantly determines how to make your best features dazzle.

Spectacular results occur when an entire makeover team of seasoned hairdressers, colorists and make-up mavens collaborate for a unified and customized final look.

When a hair color and makeup is harmonized with a new hair cut and style that is designed to enhance your natural beauty while addressing your lifestyle, budget and personal desires you can achieve the appearance of your dreams.

For many people the concept of a hair makeover conjures up images of major color or cuts. This is usually not the case.

The very best makeovers utilize a skilled professional team crafting a dramatic difference by simply working with the existing hues and styles while bumping them up a little.

By studying face shape, skin tone and other features, a skilled hair master can make a few tweaks that result in maximum benefits with minimal change.

Master stylist Rafael Garcia started the make over process by first studying Renee's face shape for inspiration.

Rafael determined that Renee had a long face with a slightly angular jaw and square shaped chin area.

His conclusion? The creation of a precision sculpted dry hair cut focused on eliminating extra weight from Renee's naturally thick and coarse hair with the goal of providing an illusion of a softer more oval shape.

Utilizing the world famous Sahag dry cut methodology, Rafael painstakingly sectioned, cut and carved a series of shapes into Renee's hair, moving in and out between the strands carefully creating natural soft movement and flow.

The finished style was a unique work of hair art custom crafted for Renee. When he was finished, Renee's strands fell perfectly into place. The dimensional cut added instant softness to her face.

Rafael kept Renee's face framing side-swept bangs intact but he made slight modifications netting spectacular eye-popping results. He carefully carved very subtle angled layers that cascaded over Renee's forehead to spotlight her stunning eyes and cheekbones.

He also lightly texturized the perimeter to kick up the ends a tiny bit and give them an edgy definition.

The Color

Renee During - Foil Highlights & Lowlights

Renee's pre-makeover hue was a medium, almost muddy brown, deemed too dark and draining for her beautiful skin tone.

Colorist Frank Reina's makeover color plan was to build upon Rafael's new haircut by first lightening up the existing base color.

He carefully planned the addition of highlights and lowlights to work in harmony with the newly sculpted haircut.

To build upon the great cut and lighter, softer hue, Frank wished to add dimension and contrast.

Painting on top of the newly lightened base, he injected soft lowlights while carefully weaving and scattering highlights along the top and around the face.

The Styling

Paying very close attention to the processing time, Renee's foils were removed and her hair was shampooed with precision. The results were spectacular. The final base color was much softer, infused with hints of golden honey.

Carefully placed dark honey lowlights radiated from the perimeter of the style while soft vanilla inspired highlights fanned out as subtle splashes of light around the hairline and at the crown.

To protect the delicate new hues a color maintenance shampoo - was used on Renee's hair followed by use of a rinse for her naturally coarse tresses.

Renee's hair was towel dried. The John Sahag 3D Volumizing Gel was applied from the roots to the ends of her damp strands to help build in lots of sassy volume and fullness through the interior of the style.

The 3D gel also helped soften Renee's hair while adding shine and control.

One of the special benefits of the 3D Volumizing Gel is that fact that is is miraculously invisible and definitely light and non-sticky. The Volumizing Gel can be used on a myriad of styles from soft and sleek to wild, extreme and edgy.

Using his fingers as a pick and a blow dryer with a concentrator, Rafael power dried Renee's hair working from the back of the head up to the top of the crown.

He repeatedly finger picked and raked through Renee's shaggy strands in conjunction with the blow dryer ultimately creating a fractured texture.

The Finishing Touches

Once Renee's hair was completely dry Rafael applied a tiny bit of John Sahag Revitalizing Drops to the palms of his hands and distributed the product through Renee's tresses to add a dab of shine and renew the texture of the newly styled strands.

He finger picked the style directing hair up and over to one side from an invisible side part.

Rafael pulled individual pieces along the fringe and continue to finger pick and arrange the style until it was to his liking and had that sexy, just tousled look.

The Make-Up

Makeup artist Flora Kay evaluated Renee's skin and eye tone along with her face shape and stunning new hair hue to craft a major makeup design.

She created an instant face dazzling transformation with an eyebrow shaping that eliminated heavy brows. Flora also lighted the brows slightly to allow Renee's gorgeous Baby Blues to literally pop.

The result? A simple style tweaking that resulted in beautiful texture and movement. The new shaggy tresses also played up Renee's naturally glossy color.
