Always on the prowl for hot new celebrity hairstyles, I stumbled, literally across a few sassy images of Colombian actress Catalina Sandino Moreno wearing a cute Fedora on my favorite photo site - DailyCeleb.com.

OK. I'll admit it. I honestly did not know who Catalina was.

After checking out the cute Fedora perched on top of Catalina's sleek hair, I searched through the rest of David's gallery images of Catalina. I was very impressed by her gorgeous ink black shimmering long tresses.

It appears that Catalino recently went the shorter Bob route after several years of wearing her cascading tresses in a variety of curled, waved and stick straight hairstyles.

Once I spied her gorgeous hair, I was curious about who this beautiful actress was. After popping into IMDB, another of my favorite Web haunts, I discovered that Catalina had starred in the critically acclaimed Maria Full Of Grace.

I discovered a fan site - Introducing Catalina - with lots of additional tidbits of information on this rising star.

Catalina's Luscious Long Hair Tips

Although I don't have the name of Catalina's hairdresser at the tip of my tongue, it is obvious the actress has had excellent advice on the care and feeding of her luscious long locks.

One of the biggest problems that impacts long hair is breakage which will manifest as random shorter hair.

If you look closely at Catalina's shimmering veil of rich jet black hair you will be hard pressed to find fly-away strands or other signs of poor maintenance.

As a budding film star it is definitely in Catalina's best interest to take great care of her stunning locks.

Looking through the many photos of Catalina with her hair coiffed in a variety of hairstyles it appears until her 2006 shorter cut, she had naturally long and lush locks that had a lot of natural wave and texture.

The most important steps in copying Catalina's lush long hair would be to adopt proper care methods.

Many long hair purists would frown upon the frequent use of hot styling tools such as blow dryers or hot irons.

To achieve the long waves that Catalina wore to the 2005 Independent Spirt awards follow these long hair friendly tips:

1. Shampoo hair with product best designed for your hair type, texture and current condition.

If you hair is colored use a product designed to preserve the color and add moisture. If you hair is dry either use a product for dry or ultra dry hair, dilute shampoo or do a Conditioning Only (CO) treatment.

2. Rinse shampoo completely from hair. Apply a rinse out conditioner, if appropriate.

3. Towel blot (do not rub) to remove excess moisture.

4. Apply a good leave-in conditioner or a cocktail of defrisant product with a moisturizing detangler.

5. Finish with a cool/cold water rinse to close cuticle and add shine.

6. Detangle hair gently from ends to the roots using a long hair friend comb. Remember that wet hair is the most fragile and more prone to breakage. Avoid pulling or brushing wet hair.

7. Separate strands into 1-2 inch sections. Roll hair, while still damp, in traditional rag rollers, soft sponge rollers or self adhesive style rollers.

8. Allow hair to "air dry" if possible. If not, sit under a hood dryer set on a low, cool setting to avoid excessive heat. Optionally you may use a blow dryer set on a low cool setting and direct hair to each roller.

9. Remove curlers and spray with hair spray.

10. For extra shimmer, apply a very small amount of shine serum to the palms of your hands and gently wipe over the top of your hair. Use fingers to lightly arrange curls in desired setting.

The CBS show ran from 1986 until 1993 although Dixie Carter and Jean Smart both left the show in 1991, two years before the end of the series.

All of the cast was present and accounted for including Dixie Carter, Jean Smart, Annie Potts and Delta Burke.

In some circles, Designing Women (as well as The Golden Girls which was on the air during the same years) has been noted as one of the television shows that helped to influence other all women cast ensembles that came behind it in years that followed.

Of course one of the most famous all women shows that came after Designing Women was HBO's Sex And The City with it's four famous female characters. Another show thought to be built around the successful four woman concept was 2005's Related which included four women playing sisters.

The four stars of Designing Women have all had very successful performance careers since their departure from the popular comedy series.

Delta Burke (July 30, 1956 in Orlando, Florida) was best known for her portrayal as aging beauty queen Suzanne Sugarbaker. She was the bratty baby sister of older sister Julia Sugarbaker played by Dixie Carter.

In her role as the spoiled Suzanne, Delta received two Emmy nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. Life imitated art with Designing Women. Delta was crowned Miss Florida in 1974 and won a talent scholarship in the Miss America Pageant which allowed her to attend a study program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.

One month after leaving London and arriving in Los Angeles her acting career was launched with a starring role in the TV movie, The Seekers. The TV series The Chisholms followed along with a leading role in Filthy Rich in 1982.

During her role as Suzanne Sugarbaker the former beauty queen was featured in the tabloids for her struggle with her weight and other personal demons. After Designing Women ended the brunette beauty watched her weight balloon to over 215 pounds.

Delta married actor Gerald McRaney in a fairytale wedding on May 28, 1989 at the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel. The still happy couple moved to New Orleans. In 1992 she starred in the ABC series, Delta, where she sang and appeared as a platinum blonde.

On October 25, 2006, The Museum Of Television And Radio (MTR) presented a special reunion of TV's Designing Women which starred four women.

To answer the rumors, Delta "came out" about her ongoing weight struggles, her addiction to diet pills and her agony over being molested as a child. She also made peace with being a "large sized woman" and wrote a book that was published in 1998, Delta Style" which shared many of her "big woman" beauty secrets.

The book was coupled with a New York clothing company, Delta Burke Design, focused on plus size women's designs.

A scary battle with diabetes turned Delta's life around and through sensible eating to combat the disease, her body finally settled into a healthy weight for her height. Since the end of Designing Women, which made Delta a household name, she has acted in a series of movies and made many appearances.

Summary

With a little advance planning and some careful thought every groom can be virtually guaranteed a great wedding hair day.

Daily Hair Tip
When towel drying wet hair never rub hair roughly or twist up into a towel. This will potentially damage delicate hair cuticles. Instead carefully blot hair with superabsortant towel and squeeze hair gently to remove moisture.
