Since its introduction to the market Botox has become popular for a long list of beauty treatments.

Botox has been so successful for the cosmetic injectibles marketplace that formulas which offer similar results for the skin are being evaluated for hair.

Specifically hair which has become excessively dry and damaged after a history of over-processing, abuse of hot styling tools, chemical treatments and harsh styling methods.

The magic of Botox is not currently available as a solution for excessively dry strands, split ends and frizz.

However, a new molecular treatment which provides similar magical results like Botox provides for the skin is being currently provided in Europe at select salons and spas.

The new molecular treatments for hair are designed to turn back the sands of time for strands just as Botox does. As a result, the formulations which plug holes in the cuticle have been nicknamed Botox for the hair.

The serum in this two-step in-salon treatment is enriched with Intra-Cylane®, a water-activated molecule which is able to deposit in the hair as evaporation takes place. It is designed to help reinforce the protective layer of hair. Followed by the special sealer, hair feels softer and looks revitalized.

L'Oreal Professionnel's Botox-like Formula

L'Oreal Fiberceutic

L'Oreal All Rights Reserved

Developed by hair chemists at L'Oreal Professionnel the Botox-like formula known as L'Oreal Professionnel Fiberceutic contains molecules which seek out and attach themselves to damaged areas where the keratin - the protein which makes up hair fibers - are most damaged. The molecules penetrate the hair shaft to seal gaps and breakages.

The molecule is trademarked Intra-Cylane® and was initially available only through professional salons. The treatments were so successful that L'Oreal followed up by launching a range of shampoo and conditioning products which customers could purchase from the salon for aftercare use at home.

Glossing agents and vitamins optionally may be added to the serum which provide longer-lasting results than other conditioning treatments which just sit on top of the hair rather than seeping deep down inside of the hair shaft.

When a treatment only floats on top of the strands the application needs to be applied after every hair cleansing.

The treatment ranges in cost from a low of approximately $30 or more depending on the stylist or salon. L'Oreal promises to leave strands feeling thicker, stronger and more lush. The treatments are designed to last up to ten shampoo treatments.

Replenishing Hair

In the same way skin ages and needs replenishing, so does hair. The cortex fractures from daily aggressions such as brushing and blow drying, chemical treatments or excess sun and when it becomes fractured it stops hair from looking healthy, smooth and shiny.

The product makes hair feel stronger and full of life. This product is different because it allows hair to repair itself from the inside out. The molecule finds the damaged fibers and is able to change its structure to create a network or mess which plugs holes in the hair and gives it its substance back.

Professional hairstylists say it's particularly good for clients with very long hair, who suffer from dry, split ends, or those whose hair has become frizzy or brittle due to heat damage from curling, straightening and blow drying or repeated color treatments.

Application Method

L'Oreal Professionnel Fiberceutic is initially applied to freshly cleansed, towel-blotted strands. After allowing the treatment to remain on the hair for up to five minutes, it's rinsed out of the hair. Once the hair has been rinsed and towel dried, more of the chemical is added in serum form, using a syringe.

Unlike other conditioning agents, it's quick to apply, and can be incorporated into a normal cut and blow-dry. Because the molecule penetrates the hair shaft, it's also said to protect the hair from future damage making it feel stronger and thicker for longer.

L'Oreal reports that those who have had the treatment notice a definite physical change in their hair. It feels thicker and literally bulks up.

L'Oreal Professional Série Expert Fiberceutic Masque Treatment

The L'Oreal Professionnel Série Expert Fiberceutic Masque Treatment available for at-home use is available for fine or thick hair. Both treatments are designed to replenish extremely damaged and weak hair. The treatment is enriched with Intra-Cylane®. It's protective formula boosts either fine or thick hair to leave locks with a smooth, natural finish.

Summary

The treatment, known as L'Oreal Professionnel Fiberceutic is a Botox-like formula which contains molecules which seek out and attach themselves to damaged areas where the keratin - the protein which makes up hair fibers - are most damaged. The molecules penetrate the hair shaft to seal gaps and breakages.

This treatment has been so successful that the firm is preparing to launch a range of shampoos and conditioners, which customers will be able to purchase from salons to use at home.
