In 2008, the Heroes star appeared on 3 lists. AskMen.com featured her as #92 on the "100 Most Desirable Women in the World", while FHM Magazine listed her as #19 in their "100 Sexiest Women in the World 2008" supplement. She also ranked #2 on Maxim's "Hottest Women of Horror Movies" list.

She also appeared on People Magazine's "Ten Best Dressed List" as "The Newcomer" and was named Victoria's Secret Sexiest Legs of 2008. Larter appeared on the cover of Glamour along with fellow actresses Rachel Bilson and Diane Lane in 2007.

Of course Ali couldn't be winning all these kudos without her long lush shiny waves. The actress always selects hairstyles which are compatible with her various appearances, whether on film, TV or the Red Carpet. Her hair always represents her well.

Hairstyle: Long Soft Wavy Hairstyle

Ali is famous for wearing her honey blonde tresses coiffed into long, lush, romantic and classically texturized styles.

She alternates between wearing her long strands down in soft waves cascading around her shoulders or bone straight with just a hint of bend throughout the edges.

Sometimes she mixes things up by adding a range of fringes, hairline textures or with twists, knots, flirty ponytails or by brushing all of her hair to one side of her face. She also wears beautifully finished half up/half down hairstyles.

Ali's hairstyles show off her gorgeous skin tone along with her mesmerizing eyes and lips.

Hairstyle Color: Honey blonde base.

Hairstyle Highlights/Lowlights: Ali's hair has a range of lighter and darker hues. At times her highlights appear to be a platinum white and her lowlights are a darker honey.

Ali Larter on Hereos as Tracy Strauss

Ali's hair is a gorgeous rich color with amazing shimmer, movement and shine. She does not appear to wear hair extensions, but in the entertainment world, anything is possible.

Texture: Ali's hair, which appears to be fine to medium in texture has some natural bend and wave. Her hair also appears to be thin to medium in thickness.

Her long lengths consist of subtle layers placed throughout the interior and around the perimeters of her hairstyle.

These layers add extra movement and work well with flat or curling irons to achieve a smooth sleek result embedded with alternating textures. Since Ali does not appear to have natural waves or curls, it will take more work to achieve the soft waves she fancies throughout her perimeters.

Fringe: Ali tends to wear her tresses brushed off the front of her hairline from either an off center or deep side part. It gives her hair a fuller appearance.

In the past she has worn a wide range of parts including side parts and off center parts. She has also worn side swept fringes.

Face Shape: Depending on how Ali wears her hair, her face shape appears to be a combination of oval and heart shaped. In general she looks best with her hair worn extending below her shoulders.

Ali Larter as Tracy Strauss

She has gorgeous eyes and lips which help to balance her face shape.

By allowing her hair to be directly up and across the edges of her face, she enhances the beauty of her eyes and lips without drawing attention to her chin.

Hairstyle Works Best: Ali has a beautiful hairline. Her hairstyle works best for tresses which are shoulder length or longer and all one length or with subtle layers.

The best texture for recreating this hairstyle is straighter hair with slight bend or natural waves. Of course tight curls might not work with this hairstyle, but any curls which can be temporarily softened into waves could also be an option.

Ali's hairstyle can be copied with or without a fringe. It should be noted that a fringe might be problematic for those with naturally curly tresses.

Hair Tools Required: This style is best achieved on freshly cleansed hair properly prepped with styling products to give the hair appropriate workability.

Note: Follow your regular cleansing routine whether it includes CO (Conditioning Only), WO (Water Only), DS (Diluted Shampoo) or undiluted formula.

Depending on the type, texture and current condition of your hair it may or may not be appropriate to utilize a leave-in conditioner, defrisant, styling spray and/or cream, sculpting hairspray, shine spray and/or serum drops.

If your hair is fine, you may wish to skip the rinse-out conditioning step and avoid over moisturizing styling products which can weight down delicate fine strands.

When you desire lots of volume you may want to consider using a volumizing program with shampoo and root spray. Utilize the products which work best for your hair type, texture and history.

Hairstyling Notes & Options

Ali Larter as Niki Sander/Jessica

Ali's soft waves can be created by blow drying with a long diffuser attachment on a blow dryer to encourage natural waves and curls.

However, it hair is naturally straight or very fine, hair can be divided into 2" sections and rolled into a wet set with self adhesive rollers and pins. The hair can be dried under a hood or similar style dryer. This will create a tighter set with more definition.

Another option is to use pin curls or separate hair and roll individual strands around a finger and then pin into place.

If you prefer a more finished or textured look you can utilize, a small, medium or large barrel curling iron to fine tune wave formation after hair has been completely dried.

Use a long tail comb to create a desired part and a wide tooth comb to detangle.

To add strategically placed volume, fullness and/or length you may wish, if your base hair is long enough, to play with clip-in hair extensions, clip in fringes or a clip-in pony for a completely different look.

Steal Ali's Hair Style

Ali Larter

This style is ideal for shoulder length or longer tresses which are medium in thickness. Follow the steps below to re-create Ali's sleek chignon hair style:

Start with a perfection hair cut which is all one length or with very slight layers throughout. Ali's hair is cut to a mid-back length. The front angles start subtly below the chin and flow back into longer progressive layers.

1. Begin styling by washing your hair in lukewarm water with a product designed to add back moisture and to treat colored or highlighted hair with tender loving care.

Optionally you may prefer to create this style on aged hair or you may wish to do a Condition Only (CO), Diluted Shampoo (DS) or Water Only (WO). Select the best option for your hair type, texture, condition and history.

2. Rinse hair well and then apply a moisturizing rinse-out conditioner focusing the products on the areas of the hair that are most dry or damaged. If your hair is fine or thin you may wish to skip this option or only apply to the ends of the hair.

3. For extra conditioning, if appropriate for your hair type and texture, substitute the rinse-out conditioner with a deep conditioner that is allowed to soak down into the hair's shaft. Avoid this option if your hair is fine or thin.

4. Finish with a cool/cold rinse to lock in moisture and add additional shine.

5. Towel blot or plop to remove excess moisture.

Apply a conditioning detangling spray or leave-in conditioner or apply a hair product cocktail (depending on your hair type, texture and condition) consisting of leave-in conditioner mixed with anti-frizz product. If your hair is naturally curly or wavy you may also wish to use a styling cream or balm for the last step.

Note: If your hair is prone to frizzing apply a defrisant product or mix with your other styling products. Many celebrities are big fans of Phytodefrisant.

6. Detangle strands with a wide tooth comb working from the ends to the roots. Create either a center or side part, depending on how you wish to style your hair.

7. For fullness, lift and volume throughout the crown, apply a volume enhancing product to the roots.

8. Separate strands into 1" to 2 1/2" sections and blow dry with a long finger diffuser or a boar's bristle round brush.

After each section is dry, wrap it around your finger in a ringlet curl and pin against the scalp. Continue to do this until all of your hair has been dried, re-curled and pinned. The larger the section wrapped into a pin curl, the larger the finished waves.

Note: If hair is naturally wavy and/or curly, do not use fingers to blow dry since this can add to frizz. Use a round boar's bristle brush or rest curls in diffuser bowl instead.

Ali Larter

For added volume you may wish to consider a vent brush as you blow dry. Blow dry the top sections of hair using fingers to lift individual top strands and direct the air flow from ends to roots.

9. Once hair is 100% dry, unpin each ringlet. Bend over at the waist and lightly shake hair to loosen the newly formed waves with loose curls along the perimeter.

Finger pick and tousle to break up and arrange waves and curls.

Avoid using a brush or a comb on the newly formed texture which will break up the newly formed curls. Lightly backcomb the crown area to create lots of height.

10. Gently smooth down the teased area with your fingers. Apply a shine serum, shine spray or hair cream to seal in moisture and add a soft shine similar to Ali's.

Work shine product into the palms of your hands and then rake with your fingers from the ears down to the ends (avoid the roots to eliminate danger of any type of oil buildup).

11. When hair is styled to your desired texture, you may apply optional hairspray for hold and finish.

12. Adorn with a small jeweled clip or flower hair accessory if desired.

With the advantage of the revolutionary clip-on hair pieces from Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves' HairDo line, short haired people can instantly morph to much longer lengths and copy Ali's easy waves. It's truly a hair miracle.
