If her face looks familiar but you can't quite place her, you may have previously seen Miranda Otto as the warrior Eowyn in Lord of the Rings:  The Two Towers as well as Lord of the Rings:  The Return of the King.

I personally became a fan of the Australian actress when she co-starred with one of my favorite actors, Rhys Ifans, in Danny Deckchair.  I could rave about the quirky but entertaining movie  but you need to watch it and enjoy it for yourself.  The only thing I will tell you is that the story is about a man who ties balloons onto his deckchair and travels through the air to a new life.

Miranda and Rhys also worked together in the Charlie Kaufman-written film "Human Nature" which explains their wonderful chemistry.

Miranda most recently has been co-starring as Cricket in Starter Wife on USA and she is absolutely delightful.

Miranda is a highly regarded actress in Australia and has won worldwide respect for her many star turns.  Besides Lord of the Rings, she has starred with Dennis Quaid in Flight of the Phoenix and appeared opposite Tom Cruise in Steven Spielberg's War Of The Worlds.

The red hair actress won a TV Silver Logie Award as Most Oustanding Actress in a Drama Series for her work in the Australian miniseries "Through My Eyes".

In Australia, Miranda captured rave reviews in 2002 for her portrayal as ‘Nora’ in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Ibsen’s classic “A Doll House.” The prestigious Australian Film Institute has honored her with nominations for her work on such features as “In the Winter Dark,” “The Well,” “Daydream Believer” and “The Last Days Of Chez Nous.” The Australian Film Critics Circle also nominated her for her performances in “Last Days of Chez Nous” and “Love Serenade.

Some of Miranda's other portrayals include the title character in “Julie Walking Home” for acclaimed Polish director Agnieszka Holland, which premiered at the 2002 Venice and Toronto Film Festivals, as well as her roles in “The Three-Legged Fox” and “Doctor Sleep.” In addition, Otto starred in the New Zealand film, “In My Father’s Den”

Miranda And Debra Messing:  Troubled Friends

Miranda's characterization of Cricket is very realistic.  Her best friend, Molly Kagan (Debra Messing) is dumped by her obnoxious husband Kenny which put Cricket into a bind.  Her husband wants Cricket to cut all ties with Molly but Cricket feels horrible about turning her back on her best friend in her darkest hour.

Meanwhile Cricket's shallow and judgemental husband get caught sneaking around with the nanny and all bets are off.

Cricket finds Molly, who is holed up in a sumptious oceanfront house in Malibu and apologizes for her betrayal.  From that point on the two Hollywood Wives reconnect and help each other deal with their individual challenges.  Of course they manage to sport well coiffed tresses throughout their ongoing trials and tribulations.

Miranda's hair color on Danny Deckchair was a rich auburn with hints of lighter highlights.

Follow the steps listed below to recreate Miranda's long lush hair style:

1. Start by selecting a shampoo with a color safe formula to preserve any gorgeous red color or blonde highlights or hues like Miranda's current golden shade.

Otherwise, select a shampoo that works with your current texture, type and condition of hair.

Shampoo products to try: Robert Hallowell Prawduct - shine booster shampoo - 8.5 oz (250 ml), Phyto Colored Hair System, J.F. Lazartigue Micro Pearl Shampoo for Dry hair, Paul Brown Cleanse Balancing Shampoo.

2  Apply a rinse out conditioner that works for your hair's normal texture, type and condition.  Consider trying a color co-ordinated mask to intensify your existing color.

3.  Finish with a cool/cold rinse to close the cuticle and help add natural shine.

4.  Towel blot (never rub or rough dry) to remove excess water.

5.  Coat damp strands with a customized styling product cocktail containing styling tools such as a defrisant, volume building mousse, gel or other styling products that work best with your hair texture and type.

Styling products to try:  Robert Hallowell Prawduct - super volumizing tonic - 8.5 oz (250 ml), Paves Professional FLAWless Red Carpet Firm Hold Repairing Styling Mousse For Dry Damaged Hair or similar.

6.  Blow dry using a large round boar's bristle brush (such as the Conair Round Brush) for strong, lasting support.  Direct the air flow down from the roots towards the end to build in shine and smooth strands.

7.  Use fingers to lightly scrunch near the roots for desired volume and lift.

8.  Use round brush to lightly roll the ends of the hair under.

9.  Finish blow drying with blast of cold air, if possible, which sets the style.

10.  When hair is 100% dry separate hair into individual 2" sections and set on medium sized hot rollers, or curl with a medium sized curling iron to add movement to the strands.

11.  If curling with a curling iron, after working with each section, roll the newly formed curl with your fingers up towards your scalp and pin into place to allow the curl to cool completely. Work around the entire head until all sections have been curled and pinned to the scalp.  Spritz lightly with a soft hold hairspray.

If curling with hot rollers, let the curlers completely cool before removing.  Once all the rollers have been released, let new curls dangle free before styling.  Spritz lightly with a soft hold hairspray.

12.  Use a tail comb or brush to create the desired part.

13. Use your fingers and/or a boar's head brush to lightly break up the curls and arrange into a soft finished halo of bouncy waves that terminate into a slight curl at the tips.

14.  If desired use a small barrel curling iron to touch up the curls on the ends.  Let the curls cool and then tousle lightly with fingers.

15.  Apply a small drop of shine serum and lightly brush over the top of the finished style.  If you prefer, use a shine spray product and spray into the palms of your hands and then glide over finished style.

Shine Serum Products To Try:
Robert Hallowell Prawduct - love that shine drops - 2 oz (60 ml).
Robert Hallowell Prawduct - love that shine spray - 4 oz (120 ml)

16. If desired, finish the look with a long lasting hairspray for a silky shine effect.

Oprah loves Paves Professional - FLAWless Convertible-Proof Firm Hold Repairing Hair Spray for Dry Damaged Hair
