Introduction

Uma Thurman has one very big secret accounting for her long history of showcasing stunning hair styles for all of her major appearances.

A recent example of Uma's spectacular hair is demonstrated in the image to the side. 

For her appearance at the 2006 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Uma wore her soft vanilla blonde strands loosely pinned into a soft chignon with an artfully tousled quiff near the front of her gorgeous face. 

Soft waves are strategically teased out of the chignon creating a soft yet elegant style.

So what exactly is Uma's big hair secret? Hollywood hairdresser Laurent DuFourg, (Laurent D to all his friends) just happens to be Uma's main secret for having  spectacular serial red carpet hair.

There are several great Hollywood hairdressers.  However, there are really only a handful of true world class hair artists.  Laurent, who I had the tremendous pleasure of chatting with about celebrity hair on two separate occasions, is one of those world class shining hair stars.

There are many reasons why Laurent, whose first major celebrity hair client was Bridgette Bardot (Laurent was 20 at the time) is a top celebrity hairdresser.   Not only does Laurent put his clients and their images first, he gives his heart and soul to his famous charges.  Many of his long time clients have become integrated into his family.  They dine and vacation together.  How cool is that?

Uma's Hair

Understanding the ultimate needs of his celebrity clients like Uma explains how Laurent is able to consistently craft eye popping hairstyles over and over again.

Uma has had the fabulous hair talents of Laurent available to her for several years. 

Not only does Laurent do her hair for many of her strolls down the runways at the award shows, he often travels with her for various premieres and other major events. 

As recently as a few weeks ago when I talked to Laurent, he was still working with Uma and her hair.

Although Laurent confided "Uma has fabulous hair which is naturally beautiful and easy to work with", how could anyone not have fantastic hair when they have one of the best Hollywood hairdressers doing their hair?  Exactly.

Working with celebrities whose lives are often unpredictable, madcap and somewhat chaotic, Laurent is used to being spontaneous with his clients. 

When asked what was one of the most unusual places he has coiffed a celebrity, he laughed and mentioned the time that he and Uma, who was the face of Lancme at the time, were rushing from one Red Carpet Event to a late night meeting with world famous former Gucci design guru, Tom Ford. 

Laurent explained "Uma's hair was still done up as a result of the award show", but needed "a new look for meeting with the famous designer". 

Not having anywhere else to go, Laurent and Uma "snuck into the coat check room of a fabulous New York luxury hotel" and they both literally "plopped down on the floor" where Laurent set to work.  He laughed and said because it was "so last minute and time was of the essence" he had, through "a series of mishaps, neglected to bring any of his styling tools with him". 

Being ever resourceful, he scrounged around and luckily discovered a hair brush sticking up out of a handbag stashed in the coat room he was able "to borrow" to quickly smooth out Uma's original updo into a new style for her meeting. 

He described in amazing detail how he "quickly popped out all the pins, holding her hair in its updo" and then "brushed her strands into a brand new look, in mere minutes".

Once he was finished, he carefully returned the brush to where he had "discovered" it and Uma looked absolutely amazing. 

When Laurent relayed this story I told him somewhere in The Universe is a person who has no idea their brush was used by two famous people and are missing out on an EBay Bonanza.  Laurent laughingly agreed with my assessment.

Summary

Of course it doesn't hurt that Uma Thurman is drop dead gorgeous with a graceful long neck, beautiful skin and eyes and a face like Helen of Troy.  However one of her best hair secrets if the fact that she is a long time client of the fabulous Laurent DuFourg (Laurent D).
