Some hair and beauty makeovers can achieve dramatic results with surprisingly minimal effort.
Sometimes it is possible to achieve a major change with a slight change in hair color, a face framing style that works with the natural face shape and a good cosmetics makeover. Simple changes can also include the addition or subtraction of bangs, a new part or even simple highlights or lowlights. Once a new style is crafter, using the proper hair care products and tools can maintain the new look indefinitely.
Before Model Jacqueline (Pictured
above & below) visited the fabulous Gerard Bollei Salon, NYC (212-759-7985) recently for professional styling help turning over a new hair leaf in 2004 for her chemically damaged, home dyed shapeless hair.
Jacqueline's face shape was a combination of a heart and inverted pear shape with a slightly prominent chin and a wider forehead. She had beautiful brown eyes and good eyebrows but a lot of freckles and sun damaged skin that needed a good cosmetics makeover.

Talented Bollei colorist Merida Muniz accessed Jacqueline's home dyed tresses and focused on toning down the brassy red hues. Transforming Jacqueline back to her roots, Muniz took the color to a tortoise shell with brilliant golden highlights. A glaze was added over the new color to add beautiful shimmer and shine. Expert Bollei hairstylist Ernie Swain evened up Jacqueline's ends and trimmed her hair approximately 2 1/2 inches so that it fell in a sultry
Boblike cascade right above Jacqueline's shoulders.
Ernie then carefully razored and blunt sculpted strategically placed choppiness throughout the ends to give the style movement and texture. He also created a subtle slightly off-center part that directed Jacqueline's newly shaped and colored strands to frame and open up her face, eyes and lips.
After Hair Makeover Styling Tips
Viola! With a little hair color and some trimming and razoring, Jacqueline's former shapeless do was transformed into a perfectly polished, professional style. Not only does the new caramel tinged tortoise color and glaze add sultry shimmer, the cut totally flatters Jacqueline's face shape, eyes and skin tone. A make-up makeover took the look one step further by minimizing Jacqueline's forehead freckles and uneven skin tones. A light application of eye and lip makeup completely the picture.
Additional Styling Tips Ernie styled Jacqueline's new style by applying a light mousse. He then blow dried the style with a Mason Pearson Popular brush to achieve straight sleekness. When Jacqueline's hair was almost dry, Ernie switched to a round brush to achieve slight lift and volume along the roots. He also used the round brush to lightly flick the choppy ends inward towards the neck.  The key to re-creating this style at home is to use a good color enriching shampoo that will not strip new hues. A good post-shampoo defrisant product like Phytodefrisant should also be used to control fizzy waves and/or curls and maintain the sultry sleekness.
Blow-dry the style with a flat or paddle style brush to get sleek straight trands and then use a round brush for gentle root lift and light flicks on the ends. Add a bit of mousse to help with volume creation.
Finishing
Touches
 Apply a tiny bit of styling cream or gel to the
edges of the hairstyle and then finger pick to create that sexy,
sleek style.
