Introduction
After
two days of playing relentless phone tag with globetrotting celebrity
stylist Ken Paves, I finally tracked him to his home in LA where he
was recovering from a whirlwind tour to New York and a persistent
cough from lack of sleep. (Image of Carmen Electra in March of 2003 on

Ken had specifically flown to New York with songbird
Celine Dion to do her hair for her scheduled July 11th appearance on
Regis and Kelly. While he was in The City with Celine, Ken
managed to also hook up with his longtime celeb client, Carmen
Electra, who also happened to be in the Big Apple to appear on Regis
and Kelly. Ken and Carmen have worked together for a very long
time and Ken has done the beautiful star's hair for some of her cover
shoots, including an upcoming cover for Maxim.
Ken reported that Carmen had teased him that he had
been "too busy to work on her hair". She told Ken
that "enough was enough", and it was time for him to
"give her a hot new style". Not one to ever disappoint
a very special client and friend, Ken honored Carmen's new style
request by slipping into "the beautiful and plush Trump Towers at
midnight" to wave his magic scissors and create a stunning new
look for this lovely lady.
Did
I say that Ken was cutting Carmen's hair at midnight? Yes that
is precisely what I said. What most people don't realize is that
celebrity hairstylists like Ken are often up at all hours of the day
and night traveling to their stellar clients to do their hair in a
wide range of private settings.

While being a celebrity hairstylist is definitely a
lot of fun and very exciting, it also includes a killer schedule that
requires them to be on call virtually 24 hours a day. I have
often caught up with an exhausted Ken during the wee hours of the
morning after he has been flying around the country to do hair.
In the year that I have gotten to know this amazing hair wizard so
well, he is never anything but upbeat, gracious, fiercely loyal
and devoted to his many celebrity clients. Ken is always very
appreciative that his clients give him the opportunity to do what he
loves most in life, and that is doing hair.
After
I pressed Ken for the all details about the Trump Hotel, I asked him
to give me the scoop on Carmen's new hairstyle. He told me that
he had "trimmed approximately 3 to 4 inches off the bottom of
Carmen's hair", which has grown to "well below the middle of
her back". Ken commented that Carmen is "no longer wearing
extensions", and she is back to wearing "100% of her own
hair". Ken reported that Carmen has "a lot of medium
to fine hair that is straight".

Ken reminded me that for Fall 2003 "long hair is
coming back with a vengeance and women want their long hair
back." Even though Carmen is letting her tresses grow
longer, she still wanted something new and striking. Ken's belief is
that "everyone should wear their hair they way that makes them
feel good". Since Carmen wanted "something new",
Ken kept the majority of her longer overall length but created "a
series of chunky, face framing layers that were simply
"amazing".
The
layers were carefully "created to highlight her beautiful eyes
and face". He also crafted soft "new bangs that are
very versatile". Since Carmen Electra is considered by many to be
one of Hollywood's most versatile stars, it seems perfect that she
have a look that can work with her many different roles. (Image

Carmen's new fringe can be "worn brushed to the
side", adding sensuality to her beautiful face. Ken
pointed out "Carmen's new layered long style transforms her from
sex kitten to sophisticated bad girl with attitude". Like
most of Ken's famous clients, Carmen uses Phyto and Paves Professional
hair care products to keep her gorgeous hair in tip top condition.
Carmen's chocolate brown hair color recently captured
by Wire Image at the premiere of Charlie's Angels 2, was specifically
created for her role as Owen Wilson's girlfriend in the big-screen
adaptation of the classic 1970s Starsky (Wilson) and Hutch police
action film. While visiting New York Carmen also stopped by to see her
celebrity colorist, Rita Hazan at the Adir salon, and was lightened
back to a softer and much lighter caramel hue.
Carmen
unveiled her gorgeous new hairstyle during her live appearance on Live
With Regis And Kelly. Not only did Carmen, Reege and Kelly love her
new look, but Hollywood reporter Nancy O'Dell saw Carmen's new style
on the show and fell in love with the look. Nancy decided that
the style would be perfect for her hair and searched high and low for
a way to reach Ken. Eventually Nancy's people found Ken's people
and a deal was struck for Ken to create a hot new style for Nancy.
Ken is scheduled to work on Nancy's hair early
tomorrow morning (Sunday, July 13, 2003) so that she will have her hot
new style for several tapings she has scheduled for the week of
Monday, July 14th. Be sure to tune in to see Nancy and her hot new
hairstyle.
If you missed the gorgeous Carmen on Regis and Kelly,
you can check out her hot new style on ABC Family's Dance Fever show
which premieres Sunday, July 13th from 7-9 pm. Carmen will be
one
of the judges on the revamped reality dance show. Besides
Dance Fever and Starsky and Hutch, Carmen will be seen in Miramax's
comedy "My Boss' Daughter" with Tara Reid, Ashton Kutcher
and Molly Shannon on August 22nd. Carmen will also be the host with
Kadeem Hardison for "Livin Large" on The Heritage Networks.
