Curls Rule At Elie Elie

Elie Gerdak is a curl wizard.  Not only was he the second salon to be certified in the Ouidad curly hair method of slicing and carving, he truly understands how to care for his clients with naturally curly tresses.

Contrary to popular belief, curls are extremely delicate.  Their spiral structure forces the hair shaft to always remain open.

As Elie explains it "natural curls are a lot like ruffled feathers that are defenseless against the penetration of multiple environmental assaults such as wind, dryness, air conditioning and pollution to penetrate the shaft.  This results in a striping away of precious nutrients and moisture.  Ultimately frizz and flyaway curls occur.

Elie teaches his naturally curly haired clientele that curly hair requires extra nourishment and protection to seal in moisture and proteins.

He also lives by the principle that "not all curls are created equally" even though their basic spiral structure is the same.  As Elie explains it "there are many textures and curl patterns that require different treatment and thus styling."

Elie believes that the key to taking the mystery out of a naturally curly person's misbehaving mane is to learn the unique personality and pattern of individual curls.  Once that is defined the appropriate products, tools and cutting techniques can be deployed for fantastic results.  

Elie and some of the stylists on his staff are certified in the Oudad method of cutting curly hair called Carving and Slicing.  Combining this technique with the proper product treatments will result in gorgeous, healthy curls for men and women.

Who Is Elie Noufal Gerdak?

So who exactly is Elie Noufal Gerdak?  Elie, which is what he prefers to be called, is an Aquarian with a serious passion for working with hair.  He was born in Lebanon and began his professional beauty career when he was very young.

He trained rigorously in the traditions of the French Coiffure.  His many years of training included classic and elegant styling. 

While working in Paris and London, he trained with the industry's very best hair designers.  He later moved to New York to work with Vidal Sassoon. 

Elie's spectacular hairdressing talents combined with his European manners attracted a huge following.  He was wildly popular.

Eventually Elie decided to move to Virginia where he opened the upscale Elie.Elie salon in Tysons Corner Virginia.
