Conair's Hot Lather Machine
Jane L. Bullock
Date: 11/9/2001

Introduction

On the surface, this product would appear to be for men only. However, we women have legs, and most of us have to shave them. Early on in life, I discovered that men’s shaving cream is far superior to soap and water for both comfort and a close shave.

So when I had the chance to check out the Conair Hot Lather Machine, I jumped at it. All that hot lather; who wouldn’t?  Note:  This product comes in the elegant chrome or the practical non-chrome versions.

Nice facts about the Conair Hot Lather Machine:

  • Heats up in approximately one minute
  • Has a "Ready" Indicator Light
  • Contains an "On" Indicator Light
  • Comes with a elegant deluxe chrome finish with classy black accents
  • Works with Standard or Large Size Shaving Cream (11 and 14 ounce cans)

Note:  This machine does not work with shaving gels.

And if all that weren’t enough, it doesn’t take up much room in the bathroom.

Back in my grandfather’s day, barbers used hot lather as a matter of course. They didn’t say so back then, but it made an ordinary shave a real spa experience. Also, when you use hot lather, you get a smooth shave with very little skin irritation.

Remember, it’s not too early to think about holiday gift-giving. The Conair Hot Lather Machine would make a terrific gift for a man or woman. (Remember to give them a can of shaving cream along with it!)

How I Tested the Conair Hot Lather Machine

It had been an extremely busy week, and my showers had been of the in-and-out variety with none of my usual singing, scalp massage, callus removal, or shaving. So when I finally took a good look at my legs, I could have easily been an extra in the new Planet of the Apes movie.

As it happened, there was a great movie on TV that I didn’t want to miss, so I plugged in the hot lather machine in my bathroom (which faces the TV). Inside of a minute, I had loads of lovely, hot lather to slather all over my hairy legs. I shaved them over the sink, and was pleasantly surprised at how silky my legs felt afterward. The hot lather not only softens up the hair, but moisturizes the skin as well. It’s something I could really get used to—anything remotely resembling a spa experience is ok with me!

The only downside I see is if you’re in too much of a hurry to use it. Let’s face it—there are days when you can barely manage the basics, never mind the luxuries!

Conclusion

This is a great little product, and an inexpensive and easy way to pamper yourself or someone else. It takes up less room on your vanity than a Kleenex box, and the chrome finish makes it attractive to look at as well.

Jane’s Rating

On my own scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, I give the Conair Hot Lather Machine an 8.
